Improve endgame content
The final boss fight and ending scenes are considered unsatisfying. Revise the endgame content to provide a more rewarding and memorable conclusion.
Improve online multiplayer for consoles
Online multiplayer is currently exclusive to PC, which limits accessibility for console players. Consider implementing cross-platform multiplayer or optimizing for consoles despite challenges like Switch's online service.
Address frame drop and optimization issues
Some players experience frame drops and performance issues, even on high-end hardware. Optimize the game to ensure smoother performance across all platforms, especially for Steam Deck and PC.
Fix minor but frequent bugs
Several players reported encountering minor bugs, including fatal ones during gameplay. Prioritize bug fixes to improve overall stability and player experience.
Expand DLC content for better value
DLCs like 'Seal the Deal' are criticized for being short and monotonous. Expand DLC content to provide more variety and depth, ensuring better value for players.
Improve UI design consistency
The user interface lacks cohesive design, with elements that don't fit well together. Revise the UI to ensure consistency and improve visual harmony.
Enhance texture and material quality
Some textures and materials appear flat and unpolished. Improve the visual quality of textures to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the game.
Add online co-op mode
Players desire a dedicated online co-op mode instead of relying on Steam Remote Play. Implement a seamless online co-op experience to enhance multiplayer enjoyment.
Improve camera controls
The camera can be frustrating and difficult to control at times. Enhance camera mechanics to provide smoother and more intuitive controls for players.
Expand story and character development
The story and characters feel underdeveloped, leading to a confusing and unsatisfying ending. Expand on character arcs and narrative depth to create a more engaging story.
Increase game length and content
Some players find the game too short. Add more levels, challenges, or story content to extend gameplay and provide a more fulfilling experience.
Improve level design consistency
While some levels are praised, others suffer from poor design and lack of direction. Ensure consistent quality in level design across all chapters.
Add more accessibility options
Players with performance issues on certain devices request better accessibility options. Provide more settings to accommodate a wider range of hardware configurations.
Enhance modding community support
While the modding community is strong, further support and tools could enhance creativity. Provide more resources and updates to empower modders and expand content.
Improve progression system clarity

Add more challenging content
Some players seek even greater challenges beyond Death Wish mode. Introduce additional high-difficulty content to cater to hardcore platforming enthusiasts.
Optimize for Steam Deck performance
Players report performance issues on Steam Deck despite efforts to optimize. Focus on improving compatibility and performance for Steam Deck users.
Add more customization options

A Hat in Time is a charming 3D platformer that breathes life into a stale genre. It embraces aspects of all the 3D Mario games while also maintaining a original feel and mechanic flow. Had a good time with this one. It's cute, the characters are cool, I really like the DLCs too. Kinda wish online multiplayer wasn't exclusive to PC but it would probably be hard to accomplish with the Switch and its "pay for online" gimmick and endless communication errors. Music is AWESOME, by the way. Love the spooky ones the most.

Negative

I was really looking forward to playing this since I've heard lots of praise. but I can't get rid of the massive frame drop issues the game has, I've tried everything: verified file integrity, put settings to minimum, tried the game on 2 diff devices: steam deck and pc (my pc is in no way low end), enabled the custom GPU clock (on steam deck), I even manually set bInitializeShadersOnDemand to true in the games engine files. nothing helped and the game remained unplayable with frame drops that completely froze up the game for 0.5sec or even 1 whole second whenever I move the character. The strangest part is that I found barely any one else with this problem, so its not really even certain what is causing the issue or if there even is a fix.

  • Sentiments

    • I was really looking forward to playing this game because of the praise I had heard about it, which made me excited and hopeful.
    • I am extremely frustrated and disappointed by the massive frame drop issues that make the game unplayable.
    • I tried multiple troubleshooting methods, such as verifying file integrity and lowering settings, but none of them worked.
    • I even tried running the game on two different devices, including a high-end PC and a Steam Deck, but the issues persisted.
    • I manually adjusted advanced settings like enabling custom GPU clock and modifying engine files, but the frame drops remained.
    • The frame drops are so severe that the game freezes for 0.5 to 1 second whenever I move the character, making it impossible to enjoy.
    • I find it strange that I couldn't find many others experiencing the same issue, which makes it unclear what is causing the problem or if a fix exists.
    • Despite my efforts, the game remains unplayable, which has left me feeling helpless and dissatisfied.
    • The lack of widespread reports about this issue adds to my confusion and frustration, as it feels like an isolated problem.
    • Overall, my experience with the game has been overwhelmingly negative due to the technical issues that prevent me from enjoying it.

Negative

The game is honestly really good. But right now, the steam version is jittering with no frame dips and is, as of right now, unplayable for me. As of right now, I'm playing the switch version but would like to play the steam version and give a positive rating once the Steam version is fixed.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game to be really good overall, which reflects a strong positive sentiment towards its quality.
    • I am experiencing jittering issues with the Steam version, which makes it unplayable for me, indicating a negative sentiment towards its current state.
    • I am currently playing the Switch version, which I find acceptable, showing a neutral sentiment towards this alternative.
    • I would like to play the Steam version and give a positive rating once it is fixed, expressing a hopeful and positive sentiment towards its potential improvement.

Negative

Game is unplayable for me. Stutter every 5 seconds or so in Mafia Town (Chapter 1). Haven't got further as it's too brutal. Playing on: 7800x3d RTX 4090 NVME SSD So... it's not a matter of specs for me

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game unplayable due to frequent stuttering, which occurs every 5 seconds or so in Mafia Town (Chapter 1).
    • The stuttering issue is so severe that I haven't been able to progress further in the game.
    • The stuttering makes the experience too brutal for me to continue playing.
    • I am playing on high-end hardware, including a 7800x3d CPU, RTX 4090 GPU, and NVME SSD, so the issue is not related to my system's specs.
    • Despite having top-tier hardware, the game's performance is still unacceptable.

Negative

My laptop has some really good specs, way above the recommended requirements in every department and it could not run this game. It stuttered every 5 seconds in the first level, even during cut scenes. I tried lowering my settings to the lowest possible, no improvements. I followed guides and steam discussions on what settings to change, no improvements. I tried playing Offline Mode, no improvements. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no improvements. I tried restarting my laptop, no improvements. I tried editing the configuration and engine settings files, no improvements. I tried changing the compatibility to Windows 8, no improvements. I don't have AMD so it can't be related to that. I am not mad honestly, just disappointed.

  • Sentiments

    • I am disappointed because my laptop, which has specs way above the recommended requirements, could not run the game properly, experiencing stutters every 5 seconds even during cutscenes.
    • I tried lowering the game settings to the lowest possible, but there were no improvements in performance.
    • I followed guides and Steam discussions to change settings, but none of the suggested fixes improved the game's performance.
    • I attempted playing the game in Offline Mode, but it did not resolve the stuttering issues.
    • I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but the performance issues persisted.
    • I restarted my laptop multiple times, but the game still stuttered and performed poorly.
    • I edited the configuration and engine settings files, but none of these changes improved the game's performance.
    • I changed the compatibility settings to Windows 8, but it did not help with the stuttering issues.
    • I am not mad about the situation, but I feel let down by the game's poor performance despite my efforts to fix it.

Negative

Over the years I've tried to enjoy the game but every single time when I play I get reminded why I have started to dislike it so much. The game's physics, camera and controls are frustrating to try and play with, no matter if you happen to have a controller or use the keyboard and mouse. The camera flickers too much even with the lowest possible camera movements or doesn't follow in time. Lots of sequence breaks or automatic sequences that messes you up and the bright all time bloom effect does not make the game Epileptic friendly.

  • Sentiments

    • I have tried to enjoy the game over the years but consistently find myself disliking it due to its frustrating gameplay mechanics.
    • The game's physics are frustrating to deal with, making it difficult to enjoy the experience.
    • The camera controls are problematic, flickering too much even with the lowest settings, which disrupts gameplay.
    • The camera often fails to follow actions in time, leading to a disorienting experience.
    • Sequence breaks and automatic sequences frequently mess up the gameplay flow, adding to the frustration.
    • The constant bright bloom effect is not friendly for players with epilepsy, making the game less accessible.
    • Using a controller or keyboard and mouse does not alleviate the issues with controls, which remain frustrating.
    • The game's mechanics consistently remind me why I dislike it, overshadowing any potential enjoyment.
