Buckshot Roulette is a high-stakes, adrenaline-pumping action game that combines Russian roulette with a 12-gauge shotgun twist. With an AI Community Rating of 88.69%, this indie simulation game offers intense 15-20 minute play sessions where you face off against The Dealer in a gritty underground nightclub. The immersive atmosphere, pulsating soundtrack, and mind-blowing gameplay keep players hooked. Fans praise its fun multiplayer mode, where you can bargain, betray, and outwit friends in 4-way PvP battles. However, some players note the RNG can feel frustrating, and the single-player mode lacks depth. Despite this, the game’s unique concept, engaging mechanics, and stunning visuals make it a must-try for fans of high-risk, high-reward games. Ready to roll the dice with your life?

What the community wishes

Add online multiplayer matchmaking
Players want in-game matchmaking for multiplayer instead of relying on Discord or friends-only lobbies. This would improve accessibility and make multiplayer more engaging for solo players.
Customizable multiplayer rules
Allow players to customize multiplayer matches with options like no items, specific items, or custom shell counts. This would add variety and replayability to multiplayer.
Fix audio crackling issues
Players report audio crackling and distortion over time. Fixing this issue would enhance the immersive atmosphere and overall experience.
Add ultrawide monitor support
Players request native ultrawide support, as it is achievable through modding. Implementing this would improve visual quality for users with ultrawide monitors.
Consequences for quitting matches
Players suggest adding penalties for hosts closing games or players quitting mid-match. This would discourage poor sportsmanship and improve matchmaking experiences.
Improve AI dealer logic
The AI dealer often makes illogical moves, reducing tension and challenge. Enhancing the AI's decision-making would make the game more engaging and competitive.
Expand singleplayer content
Players find the singleplayer mode too short and lacking depth. Adding more content, such as a story mode or additional challenges, would increase replayability.
Add more achievements for multiplayer
Currently, multiplayer mode lacks achievements. Adding multiplayer-specific achievements would incentivize players to engage more with this mode.
Balance RNG for fairness
Some players feel the RNG is too punishing. Adjusting the randomness to feel fairer while maintaining tension would improve player satisfaction.
Add more items and mechanics
Players enjoy the item system but want more variety. Introducing new items or mechanics would keep gameplay fresh and exciting.
Improve matchmaking fairness
Players report issues with friends teaming up in public lobbies, creating unfair advantages. Implementing measures to prevent this would improve matchmaking integrity.
Add a tutorial or hints
Some players struggle to keep track of game mechanics. Adding a tutorial or hints would help new players understand the game better.
Expand Double or Nothing mode
Players enjoy Double or Nothing mode but want more depth. Adding new challenges or mechanics to this mode would increase its replayability.
Add more visual customization
Players appreciate the visuals but want more customization options, such as themes or color schemes, to personalize their experience.
Improve multiplayer stability
Players report issues with multiplayer stability, especially in cross-platform play. Fixing these issues would enhance the multiplayer experience.
Add a practice mode
Players suggest adding a practice mode to experiment with strategies without consequences. This would help players improve their skills and confidence.
Add more soundtrack variety
Players love the soundtrack but want more tracks. Adding more music would enhance the game's atmosphere and keep it fresh.
Include a leaderboard system
Players suggest adding a leaderboard for high scores in singleplayer and multiplayer. This would add a competitive element and encourage replayability.
Add more narrative elements
Players want more story or lore to deepen the game's atmosphere. Adding narrative elements would make the game more immersive.

One of the most stressful and thrilling games I've ever played! The "Double or Nothing"/Endless mode you unlock after winning the first encounter is amazing but also incredibly rage-inducing. Big plus are the aesthetics and OST in this game, they are simply incredible!! This game is definitely not for the faint-hearted, so be ready for a highly stressful game of chance against a quite unforgiving dealer.

Buckshot Roulette is a simple game about playing russian roulette with a shotgun against a dealer, where you can use items not the intended way to manipulate the simple rules of the game. The game has such great atmosphere, rules are easy to understand, controls are basic but works well... basically it's a simple enough game. The addition of Double or Nothing and the extra items make this game grindable to get a good enough prize money and go for the achivements aswell. Later the developers made a multiplayer mode which is mostly supported for friends only, but atleast there is a multiplayer, where 4 players can play against each other and a few items has been added aswell. However if you are not interested to get achivements or to go for a high score, you will quickly put the game down after you play through it once, or play a round or two. However since the game is not that expensive, this is not a big of a deal. Also, in multiplayer none of the achivements can be unlocked. Even though it doesn't offer much gameplay and playtime, I can still recommend it. It can get addictive if you are interested in, but I would suggest to get it on sale.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the atmosphere of Buckshot Roulette to be great, which adds to the overall enjoyment of the game.
    • The rules of the game are easy to understand, making it accessible for players of all skill levels.
    • The controls are basic but work well, ensuring a smooth and intuitive gameplay experience.
    • The addition of Double or Nothing and extra items makes the game grindable, which is appealing for achievement hunters.
    • The developers added a multiplayer mode, which is a nice feature, even though it is mostly supported for friends only.
    • If you are not interested in achievements or high scores, the game might not hold your interest for long, as it can feel repetitive after a few plays.
    • The game is not very expensive, which makes it a reasonable purchase despite its limited gameplay depth.
    • Achievements cannot be unlocked in multiplayer mode, which might be disappointing for some players.
    • Even though the game doesn't offer much in terms of gameplay and playtime, I still recommend it, especially if you enjoy addictive, high-score-driven games.
    • I suggest getting the game on sale, as it might not be worth the full price for everyone.

Negative

Bought the game on itch.io as an early supporter. Had to buy it again on steam so I could play it with a friend, because itchio version isn't being updated and you don't get a steam key. Rather scummy behaviour

  • Sentiments

    • I feel frustrated because I had to buy the game twice, once on itch.io and again on Steam, just to play with a friend.
    • I am disappointed that the itch.io version of the game is not being updated, which feels like a lack of support for early supporters.
    • I find it unfair that I did not receive a Steam key after purchasing the game on itch.io, which feels like a missed opportunity for customer satisfaction.
    • I perceive the behavior of not providing updates or Steam keys for the itch.io version as scummy and unethical.
    • I supported the game early by purchasing it on itch.io, which shows my initial enthusiasm and trust in the developers.
    • I wanted to play the game with a friend, which motivated me to buy it again on Steam despite the inconvenience.

Negative

I was disappointed by how easy the game was because the AI was bad. Watching the dealer make illogical misplay after misplay took away the tension, and I pretty much sailed to victory. Not because of adrenaline-pumping luck or skill, but because I was pretty much becoming my own dealer with house odds and first player advantage. There isn't much else to this short game, so even though it's cool, playing it wasn't as satisfying or scary as it could have been.

  • Sentiments

    • I was disappointed by how easy the game was because the AI was bad, which took away the tension and made the experience less engaging.
    • Watching the dealer make illogical misplay after misplay made the game feel unsatisfying and less challenging.
    • I pretty much sailed to victory without much effort, which made the gameplay feel unrewarding and lacking in excitement.
    • The lack of adrenaline-pumping luck or skill in the gameplay made it feel monotonous and unfulfilling.
    • I felt like I was becoming my own dealer with house odds and first player advantage, which made the game feel unbalanced and unfair.
    • The game is short, and there isn't much else to it, which made the overall experience feel incomplete and underwhelming.
    • Even though the game is cool in concept, playing it wasn't as satisfying or scary as it could have been, which left me wanting more.

Negative

id rather play uno to be honest, it was fun the first 2 rounds but that's it (with friends!) it gets repetitive rather quickly, sure, it's "strategic", but if you have a single ounce of brain, and so do your opponents, it comes down to simple RNG. Not worth it. Go watch someone play it if you're interested in single player.

  • Sentiments

    • I found the game fun initially, especially when playing with friends for the first two rounds.
    • I feel the game gets repetitive very quickly, which reduces its long-term appeal.
    • I think the game is described as 'strategic,' but it feels overly simplistic if all players are competent.
    • I believe the game ultimately comes down to simple RNG (random number generation), which diminishes its strategic depth.
    • I don't think the game is worth playing, especially if you're looking for a meaningful or engaging experience.
    • I suggest watching someone else play the game if you're interested in the single-player aspect, as it might not be worth playing yourself.

Negative

It's honestly more fun to watch other people play. There is so much dead time between actions because of all the camera pans. God forbid you get nothing but beer, or worse, both of you get tons of cigarettes and the game just goes on way too long. There are also just very inconsistent rules with the "broken" health; I assume I didn't experience a bug, but I just can't tell. I could look up how everything works, but that would strip the last layer of mystery and interest from the game. The devs got their bag, just watch this on youtube. If you are using this game to study game dev, nothing additional is gained from playing it yourself.

  • Sentiments

    • I find it more enjoyable to watch others play the game rather than playing it myself due to the excessive dead time between actions caused by frequent camera pans.
    • I feel frustrated when the game drags on for too long, especially when both players end up with tons of cigarettes or nothing but beer.
    • I am confused by the inconsistent rules surrounding the 'broken' health mechanic, and I am unsure if it is a bug or an intended feature.
    • I believe that looking up how the game works would remove the last bit of mystery and interest, which is something I value in games.
    • I think the developers have already achieved their goal of making money, and I recommend watching gameplay on YouTube instead of playing it.
    • I see no additional value in playing the game myself if the goal is to study game development, as nothing new is gained from the experience.

Negative

dont like it. the chances are always odd for the NPC and myself. At one point the NPC, without using an item, correctly guessed the following 6 shells. He will also sometimes take the expired medicine which should have a 50/50 chance of hurting or healing you and he always gets hurt. something fishy going on there

  • Sentiments

    • I don't like the game because the chances always seem unfair, with the odds favoring the NPC over me.
    • I find it frustrating that the NPC correctly guessed the next 6 shells without using any items, which feels unrealistic and unfair.
    • I feel suspicious about the game mechanics because the NPC always gets hurt when taking expired medicine, which should have a 50/50 chance of healing or hurting.
    • I believe something fishy is going on with the game's mechanics, as the outcomes seem biased against the player.
