AI Review

CarX Drift Racing Online is a thrilling drifting simulator that combines realistic physics with immersive gameplay. With an AI Community Rating of 85.1%, this game is a hit among racing enthusiasts. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, the game offers driving assists for gamepads and keyboards, while steering wheel setups provide unparalleled immersion. Players praise the game for its fun and realistic drifting mechanics, extensive car customization, and vibrant community. However, some note issues like toxic behavior, lag in multiplayer lobbies, and a lack of single-player content. The game features over 100 cars, diverse tracks, and supports player-made content via Steam Workshop. Dive into the world of drifting with friends or compete in Tandem Drifting to secure a spot in the Top 32. While the game is addictive, with players often losing track of time, it’s recommended to take breaks every 40 minutes. If you’re looking for a game that balances realism with arcade-style fun, CarX Drift Racing Online is worth a try.

What the community wishes

Add VR motion controller support
The game lacks VR motion controller support for grabbing the virtual steering wheel, which limits immersion for VR players. Adding this feature would enhance the VR experience significantly.
Improve PC version focus
The PC version has been neglected in favor of the mobile version, leading to issues like hackers, server crashes, and lack of updates. Developers should prioritize fixing these issues and adding new content for PC players.
Enhance single-player experience
The game feels empty when playing alone. Adding more single-player content or features to keep solo players engaged would improve the overall experience.
Add more customization options
Players want more customization options like driver customization, digital dashboards, seat belts, and license plates, similar to CarX 2 (mobile). This would add depth and personalization to the game.
Fix multiplayer lag and stability
Multiplayer lobbies suffer from severe lag and frame rate drops, making online play frustrating. Improving server stability and performance is crucial for a better multiplayer experience.
Address toxic community behavior
The community is often toxic, with players trolling, ramming, and voting to ban others. Implementing better moderation tools or systems to discourage such behavior would improve the online environment.
Add crash physics
The game lacks crash physics, which detracts from realism. Adding collision and damage physics would make the game more immersive and engaging.
Improve graphics and optimization
The game freezes frequently and has optimization issues, even on high-end systems. Improving graphics and performance would enhance the overall experience.
Add more maps and cars
Players feel the game lacks variety in maps and cars. Adding more content, especially for the PC version, would keep the game fresh and exciting.
Reduce DLC paywalls
Many players feel that essential customization options, like drift missile stickers, are locked behind paywalls. Reducing reliance on paid DLC would improve player satisfaction.
Improve realism in drifting
The game is more arcade-like than realistic. Adding more realistic physics and tuning options would appeal to players seeking a true drifting simulator.
Add a small story mode
The game lacks a narrative or progression system. Adding a small story mode or campaign would provide more depth and replayability.
Fix hacking and IP grabbing
Hackers and IP grabbers are prevalent in the game, especially in multiplayer. Implementing better security measures would protect players and improve the online experience.
Improve crossplay experience
While crossplay is a great feature, console players often troll or disrupt PC lobbies. Implementing better crossplay moderation or collision settings would improve the experience.
Add more modding support
The game thrives on mods, but official support for modding is limited. Providing better tools and support for modders would enhance the game's longevity and appeal.
Improve force feedback in VR
Force feedback in VR goes limp during freezes, ruining the experience. Improving force feedback consistency would make VR gameplay more enjoyable.
Add more realistic car weight
Many cars feel too light and unrealistic. Adjusting car weight and handling to better reflect real-world physics would improve the driving experience.
Increase update frequency
Updates are infrequent and often lack meaningful content. Increasing the frequency and quality of updates would keep the player base engaged.
Add more community-driven features
The game relies heavily on the modding community for content. Adding more official community-driven features, like custom maps or cars, would reduce reliance on mods.
Improve global chat moderation
Global chat can be toxic and inappropriate. Implementing better moderation tools or filters would create a more welcoming environment for all players.

I was looking for another racing simulator that replicates real-life driving. I heard feedback suggesting that the game is more arcadish and less realistic, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. While the gameplay was fun and the graphics were amazing, the game didn't meet my expectations as a simulator that applies to real-life driving. Despite enjoying the game and having a great time playing it, I was looking for a more realistic racing simulator. I'll just continue sticking to Assetto Corsa instead. In summary, if you're looking to learn how to drift realistically, I recommend Assetto Corsa. However, if realism isn't your priority for you, Carx is your game.

  • Sentiments

    • The graphics were amazing, which added to my enjoyment of the game.
    • I was looking for another racing simulator that replicates real-life driving, but the game didn't meet my expectations as a realistic simulator.
    • I heard feedback suggesting that the game is more arcadish and less realistic, which influenced my decision to try it.
    • The gameplay was fun, and I enjoyed playing the game despite its lack of realism.
    • I was disappointed that the game didn't apply to real-life driving as I had hoped.
    • I had a great time playing the game, even though it wasn't what I was looking for in terms of realism.
    • I decided to continue sticking to Assetto Corsa instead, as it better meets my expectations for a realistic racing simulator.
    • If realism isn't a priority for you, I recommend Carx as a fun and enjoyable game.
    • For those looking to learn how to drift realistically, I recommend Assetto Corsa over Carx.

Positive

Warning to VR players: this game does not support VR motion controller support for grabbing the virtual steering wheel. However CarX drifting is one of the more realistic car drifting games out there. This game is deffinately better played with a steering wheel and pedal system. But can be fun on consoles with a standard controller too. If you don’t mind using the mouse and keyboard it’s decent in VR too. It works pretty decent with some motion simulators like the Yaw VR as well. Yaw Motion Simulator Settings: Utilize Direct Input in the Yaw VR Game Engine in tandem with a steering wheel and/or pedal system Pitch Forward: 14 Pitch Backwards: 16 Roll: 10 Power: 70 Limit the Yaw (yes): 25/180

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the lack of VR motion controller support for grabbing the virtual steering wheel is a significant drawback for VR players.
    • I believe CarX drifting is one of the more realistic car drifting games available, which is a strong positive aspect.
    • I think the game is definitely better played with a steering wheel and pedal system, enhancing the overall experience.
    • I find that the game can still be fun on consoles with a standard controller, which is a positive note for accessibility.
    • I consider the game decent in VR if you don’t mind using the mouse and keyboard, which is a neutral sentiment.
    • I appreciate that the game works pretty decent with some motion simulators like the Yaw VR, adding to its versatility.
    • I feel that the Yaw Motion Simulator settings provided are helpful for optimizing the experience with a steering wheel and pedal system.

Positive

Very good and chill game. It needs the customization from CarX 2 (mobile) like driver customization, digital dashboard, seat belts, license plates but overall its a fun and beautiful game. Edit: We need the F40 back!!! (⬆ and the other things i mentioned ⬆)

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game to be very good and chill, which makes it enjoyable to play.
    • I feel the game needs more customization options, such as driver customization, digital dashboard, seat belts, and license plates, similar to CarX 2 (mobile).
    • Overall, I think the game is fun and beautiful, which adds to its appeal.
    • I strongly believe the game should bring back the F40, as it would enhance the experience.

Negative

CarX developers have abandoned the computer version of the game completely to focus on the mobile version. Due to this, the current version of the game has been swarmed by hackers and IP grabbers. This is more likely to effect you if you are streaming but it can happen to the common guy also. Countless times servers have been crashed, changed or just completely shut down. CarX are ignoring the out cry from the community and are refusing to talk to anyone about it. It is honestly a shame, I love CarX and it is an awesome game but if they don't care enough to fix the issues then they are going to crash and burn. It's only going to take one good drift game to come out and we will all be gone...

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that CarX developers have completely abandoned the computer version of the game, which is disappointing and frustrating.
    • I am concerned that the current version of the game is overrun by hackers and IP grabbers, making it unsafe for players.
    • I worry that the issues with hackers and IP grabbers are more likely to affect streamers but can also impact regular players.
    • I am frustrated that servers are frequently crashed, changed, or shut down, disrupting the gameplay experience.
    • I feel ignored by CarX developers, as they are not addressing the community's concerns or communicating with players.
    • I believe it is a shame because I genuinely love CarX and think it is an awesome game when it works properly.
    • I am disappointed that CarX developers do not seem to care enough to fix the ongoing issues with the game.
    • I fear that if CarX does not address these problems, the game will eventually fail and lose its player base.
    • I think it will only take one good drift game to be released, and players will abandon CarX entirely.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the game is mediocre and not particularly impressive, as indicated by the word 'meh'.
    • I find the review to be more focused on an unrelated visual element (ASCII art) rather than the game itself, which suggests a lack of engagement with the game.

Negative

If your looking for a realistic drifting/racing game this is not it!!!....But after 1k+ hours its time for me to review. CarX has one of the most toxic communities around. lobbies will be full of ppl in lambo's and what not that do nothing but ram and crash you out in game to ruin your fun. you will have to download a mod called kino just so you can disable collisions for most ppl that do play this game...and yes your gonna have to go ahead off rip and disable all console collisions because for some reason every single person from console is a major troll. if your in a lobby and lets say someone dosent like how you drift they will proceed to just keep voting to ban you from the lobby until you are. when someone joins the lobby with a workshop car be prepared to lag your azz off. the devs of this game do not care and every update things just get worse you will see you can hardly push 60FPS constant even with me having a 4090 and 32 ram but yet i can run cyberpunk epic settings 200+ fps my advise go get assetto communtiy is alittle better and its actually a way better sim than carx will ever be................(edit) do not leave a neg review on there game or they will ban you lmfao snowflakes they are

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that CarX is not a realistic drifting or racing game, which is disappointing for someone looking for that kind of experience.
    • I have spent over 1,000 hours playing this game, which shows I have invested a significant amount of time into it.
    • I find the CarX community to be one of the most toxic I have encountered, with players often ramming and crashing others to ruin the fun.
    • I had to download a mod called Kino to disable collisions because many players, especially console users, are major trolls.
    • I experienced frequent lobby bans initiated by other players who disliked my drifting style, which was frustrating.
    • I noticed significant lag when someone joins the lobby with a workshop car, which negatively impacts the gameplay experience.
    • I feel the developers of CarX do not care about the game, as updates seem to make things worse rather than better.
    • I am disappointed with the game's performance, as I struggle to maintain 60 FPS even with a high-end setup like a 4090 and 32GB RAM.
    • I recommend Assetto Corsa as a better alternative, with a slightly better community and superior simulation quality.
    • I find it concerning that the developers ban users for leaving negative reviews, which feels unfair and unprofessional.

Negative

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the game has stolen content and taken away my tune, which makes me hate CarX now.
    • I am frustrated by the presence of people who seem to only join lobbies to get noticed, rather than playing the game properly.
    • I believe the game used to be good but has now become trash due to the behavior of other players.
    • I am annoyed by players who are bad at drifting and ruin the experience for others.
    • I feel that the game is now worse than before, with people joining lobbies for attention rather than enjoying the game.
    • I dislike the toxic behavior of players who sit in the game waiting to get noticed, making the environment unpleasant.
    • I am disappointed that the game has declined in quality and is no longer enjoyable.
    • I feel that the game has lost its appeal due to the negative behavior of the community.
    • I am unhappy with the current state of the game, as it no longer provides the fun experience it once did.
    • I find the game to be unenjoyable now, as it is filled with players who are more interested in attention than gameplay.

Negative

Good game, but CarX doesn't care about their players. They steal assets, don't fix problems like lag spikes in multiplayer, or hacking issues. They rarely add new content, and when they do, it's copied straight across from their precious mobile games. Apart from this, I like the game. It feels good on keyboard, controller, and wheel. It's also one of the few drift games that Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players can cross-play together. It also has a very easy to use multiplayer system, which is a lot easier than Assetto Corsa. But I can't recommend the games because of all the other problems.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that CarX doesn't care about their players, which is disappointing and frustrating.
    • I am unhappy that the developers steal assets instead of creating original content.
    • I am frustrated with the lag spikes in multiplayer, which the developers have not fixed.
    • I am concerned about the hacking issues in the game, which remain unresolved.
    • I am disappointed that new content is rarely added, and when it is, it's copied from their mobile games.
    • I enjoy the game's controls, as it feels good on keyboard, controller, and wheel.
    • I appreciate that it is one of the few drift games supporting cross-play between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players.
    • I find the multiplayer system very easy to use, especially compared to games like Assetto Corsa.
    • I like the game overall, but I cannot recommend it due to the unresolved issues.
