Dishonored is an immersive first-person action-adventure game that combines stealth, supernatural abilities, and a gripping revenge story. Set in the steampunk-inspired city of Dunwall, you play as Corvo, a supernatural assassin framed for murder. With a flexible combat system, you can creatively eliminate targets using a mix of gadgets, weapons, and powers like teleportation and time manipulation. The game’s AI Community Rating of 91.2% reflects its engaging gameplay, freedom of choice, and atmospheric world. Players praise its immersive story, stealth mechanics, and replayability, calling it a 'masterpiece.' However, some note inconsistencies in stealth mechanics, overpowered abilities, and a lack of escalation in the final missions. If you enjoy games that reward creativity and offer multiple playstyles, Dishonored is worth exploring. Dive into its rich narrative and discover why it’s a fan favorite among action and stealth enthusiasts.
This is an iconic immersive sim game with amazing design of maps and game mechanisms. There are many options to approach any situation and determine the city and peoples' fate. The stories in both the main game and DLCs are good. There are a lot of replay value in map exploration and battles. Immersive sim games in general should be done in slow pace, as a lot of fun comes from observing carefully, plan and executive without requirement on reflex. Most part of the game are designed this way and you can play at your own pace. The only exception is the Dunwall City Trials DLC which needs fast reflex in several stages. This also means immersive sims are naturally not suitable for multi-players. Achievements in this game are well designed overall. There are many achievements on possible side stories and different play styles. Note that several achievements in the Dunwall City trials are very difficult. Headhunter, Daredevil, By My Hand Alone and Void Star are all challenging achievements that requires hours of practice and a bit of luck. Overall, it's a very recommended game for any one loves single players games.

As well as being a beautifully realized game, Dishonored also has one of my favorite kinds of stealth, where it doesn't feel like you've messed things up when you're caught. To illustrate...

If you're caught in Dishonored, you may do the following: • Magic teleport your way out • Slash and gun your way out • Teleport to a nearby roof and drop kill your enemy • Make deadly rats appear • Windblast your enemies away, and then make rats appear • Grab the nearest oil tank, chuck it, stop time, and then shoot it in mid air • Stop time, shoot in the direction of each enemy, resume time, and watch them fall around you. And then make rats appear. If you're caught in Hitman, you may do the following: • Run n' gun your way to your target • Reload a save
Dishonored is one of the best single player games I ever played. It came very close to the original Deux Ex for me. There are so many ways to play this game - pure stealth, pure combat or a combination of both. The game manages to take player decisions into account and change things in subtle and interesting ways. The powers and skills acquired allow different ways to approach mission objectives. UI is customizable, and the game works fine on ultra wide resolution (3440x1440). I never experienced any technical issues. It also has quick save, quick load, auto save and manual save. A true PC game. I highly recommend it.
Can you feel the new day rising Climbing up the east horizon? They can't hold us Now we'll fight through Each and every one will start new. -"Honor For All", by late Daniel Licht. Dishonored, a phenomenal game made by Arkane Studio on Unreal Engine. The game follows you, Corvo Attano, as you take down your enemies with powers from the Outsider. Dishonored offers you several choices within the levels through which you can complete your objectives. The level design accommodates for Corvo's Blink ability and lets the player make full use of it. However, Dishonored also has a solid gun gameplay, letting you back-alley-brawl your way to victory. Possess people, Blink everywhere, unleash Whirlwinds, summon Devouring Swarms and use Agility and Adrenaline to their full potential. Nothing is off-limits in Dishonored. The soundtrack is phenomenal, with ''Honor for All'' by the Licht Brothers being my all-time favorite. Absolute god-tier song. R.I.P. Daniel Licht. All in all, out of all Dishonored games, this is the snappiest, fastest and most affordable one. If you want to start playing the series, I highly recommend you start here.
ZeniMax joining the "slapping EULAs onto old games" trend with an updated agreement that: "includes my express consent to ZeniMax’s use of Anti-Cheat Tools as described herein", and claims; "The Game is a Service offered by ZeniMax and is only playable online." Acquire Dishonored elsewhere, Steam is happy to let these companies bloat their old games with malicious DRM.
It's alright. The tools for low chaos playthrough are extremely limited while high chaos playthrough has several times the options, making the former more of a slog than a fun experience at times. I.e. Game offers tons of ways to kill people either directly or indirectly, yet even outside your weapons and tools there are extremely limited ways to do non-lethal takedowns. It's quite telling when only one tool from your weapons and only one power is more or less "required" to have a full kit. Lore has some nice elements to it, but the story itself is pointlessly predictable. The characters, aside from a side character, do not exactly render much of an impression.
The chaos system being tied to endings means you're locked in one of two styles: 1. Have fun and get the bad ending 2. Play through mediocre stealth with like 2 options but get the good ending. Blink is too OP and negates if not outright undermine entire systems that you'd have to worry about if you're doing a stealth run. My kneejerk reaction was *I should stop using it and try the other stuff* but there's also an issue where you'll have to use to make progress cause the other options don't offer non lethal variants (you either blink and shut down a watch tower or you hack it in which case it kills everything that moves) It also had constant bugs that I'm surprised have not been fixed even after so much time (prevalent in the challenge maps)
I played this on console years ago and really enjoyed it. But the game is basically unplayable on a high end PC for me. The framerates appear fine at around 100 fps but the camera is unbearably laggy. I am not typically obsessive about framerates but this is impossible to look at. I couldn't even tolerate the intro sequence.
I don't really find the game play that fun or interesting. It's fun for the first few hours but gets really boring and repetitive after a while. Still for a mere 4 bucks on sale it's a enjoyable 4 hours. EDIT: So now having finished the game, turns out using any of the various weapons you are given gets you the bad ending. Basically 90% of your inventory is steel and gun powder based and you have a hand dedicated to holding a sword but using any of it means that everyone calls you a horrible person and hates you. It honestly plays more fun to go full Doom Slayer on random guards than it does to hide in a bush for 30 minutes because each to you step out you get spotted by a guard AND OH MY GOD ITS BEEN 30 MINUTES IN THIS BUSH BUT I CAN'T SHOOT THE GUARD OR ELSE I GET THE BAD ENDING. I shot the guard.
