Some story bits and survival mechanics are a bit confusing and not really intuitive but nothing a pair of google searches can't help with. One thing I do think is missing are achievements, since we have trading cards it seems weird not having achievements, I think it would help progress in the game and guide new players. Also is kind of weird Selling the multiplayer separate from the main game instead of just including it in the base or at least like a DLC to have only one installment. Plus with all the unnecessary DLCs and micro transactions it seems don't starve went ful EA with this one.
Don't Starve Together is an amazing game to enjoy with friends. It is challenging and the punishment for every mistake is what makes this game so enjoyable. This game is not easy and that is what makes it great. The game puts you in such a random and new situation, that is so enjoyable. Getting better at the game and managing to survive a long time gives a large sense of accomplishment. Since the game goes on sale so much for around $6 its a great game + you will receive a free copy (as a steam gift) for your friend. There's one more thing I would like to add: Klei posts different codes from time to time and when you redeem them you receive points which you can redeem to get cool items. If you're using Twitch then you can watch DST streams to get additional items.
Got a cat here. Passerby can touch her and click Like to pet her once. Award for good luck.

Even though it's called Don't Starve Together, you can still starve solo. But it does really shine the most when you play with your friends. Trying to survive with almost no food and panicking before dark with your friends... The way everything gets so hectic and rarely calms down is the best about this game, really. The game is really fun, it gets pretty frequent updates that always revive the game a bit and through those 350+ hours of gameplay, I'm not regretting a single minute.
Data collection is opt-out instead of opt-in. What's worse; it's now a HARD REQUIREMENT to have it enabled if you want to play online or access a lot of the core functionality of the game. Yet another company that is unable to respect even the most basic privacy rights in accordance with GDPR. Fortunately, there are other developers out there with their morals still intact.
I'm going to uninstall this game permanently now. My game constantly have screen freezes and I have to manually force quit the game even without mods enable. The worst mechanic in game so far is the "Merm vs pigman" set piece. Roaming merms need to be removed from the game. Every single time I join a server there is guarantee a merm vs pigman set piece and the merms always win of course, but the problem is when the merms are allowed to roam free. They ruin everything. If you are in the middle of a boss fight they will interfere. If you are walking alone in the dark they will pop out and attack you. They can still chase you really far if you are running at the same speed as them with a walking cane and on a road. They are a nuisance just as bad as the Marotters. This game is proving to be a mental head ache. In the past I remember fondly of the friends and activity that makes this game so great. Now I find it as a chore just something to keep me grinding. It is no longer fun to play. I want to quit the game a while back, but had a hard time making that decision. As of today I will no longer play this game. Even with 5k hours, I wish I had taken all those hours back.
i absolutely adore this game but cannot recommend it. it lacks a lot of quality of life features, needlessly frustrating and unplayable without a wiki. i respect klei for making a lot of great indie games with unique and beautiful art styles, but it feels that for don't starve together, they are catering only for a small percent of community - tryhards. for years already updates are coming out mostly for endgame. the endgame takes a lot of preparation, is really frustrating, not always gives good loot, and i am sure that most players never reach it. and, it feels like endgame content is always designed for 4-6 groups of people. with this amount of players it is surely a lot of easier to prepare for it and beat it. health or damage never scale depending on number of players, and this is just dumb. for 1-3 players any endgame boss is hard AS FUCK and preparing for even summoning bosses is LONG, while for more people it's just...fine, because with a lot of players you can't just kinda easily beat to death anything. regarding quality of life features, it's really sucks as well. you can't even see hp of enemies, chests are ridiculously small for amount of resourses that are needed for everything, placing anything symetrically is literally impossible, and there is a lot of other stuff where knowing real number is really important and the only way to know them is to use internet. or mods. i would prefer more if klei decided to develop paid dlcs for the game, like shipwrecked and hamlet, because changing and/or enhancing core gameplay feels more important for me than endgame that a lot of people never even seen. yes, i see why they want to keep shipwrecked and hamlet for original don't starve so there is at least some reason to play it, but they could develop another dlcs with different themes. but i guess we will be just getting more, and more overtuned bosses.
I've played a ton of survival games - all of the mainstream, common ones - and I would consider myself pretty decent at games in general, but not this game. I have 63 hours and we can't make it through a single year, on the easiest difficulty possible, with helpful mods on. Our entire group of survival game veterans are baffled at why this game has such high ratings, because we've tried so hard to have fun but we just don't. You spend your entire time playing desperately trying to keep your sanity and hunger up, and then the season changes and you can't leave your base or you die almost instantly and you'll never be able to catch back up. There's no direction or sense or achievement, and we're just generally confused.
I have rather mixed feelings about the game, and there's not a whole lot to write about that others haven't wrote about already, so I'll leave my thoughts on the game alongside the reason for my negative review with the following summary: Anything one does with their friends has the potential to be fun. Sports, video games, shows, movies, and whatever else. I have 35 hours in the game, and most, if not all, of that time was spent with friends playing the game. I did not want to play it alone. Thus, I can only conclude my time in the game was enjoyable because of the people I played with and not the game itself. After all, I can have fun playing any games with my friends. Therefore, I can't, in good faith, recommend the game.
