Door Kickers 2: Task Force North is a top-down tactical strategy game that puts you in command of Special Ops teams in intense, real-time combat against a Middle East-based terrorist network. With an AI Community Rating of 86.42%, this sequel to the acclaimed Door Kickers delivers a gripping mix of realism and action. Players praise its tactical depth, replayability, and satisfying planning mechanics, with features like destructible environments, weapon customization, and multiple unit types adding to the fun. However, some criticize the slow update cycle and lack of a campaign mode after 4 years in Early Access. If you love strategic gameplay, freeform planning, and cooperative multiplayer, Door Kickers 2 offers a thrilling experience—though patience is needed for its full potential.
The game has nearly everything I was hoping it would for the price, which is amazing for an early access title. Controls schemes for camera/facing control are a little obscured, but many members of the community are willing to help everyone learn the ropes! Very friendly. When you do learn all the controls the strategy really begins and it is oh so fun. Speaking of community, the devs however are not so friendly... For 3 years now they have been banning anyone anyway they can for daring to criticise the game or worse the behaviour of their moderator alt accounts. Yes they don't actually appoint community members from what I can tell. They are toxic, abusive and thin skinned bullies and all one needs to do discover this is look at the games discussion forums. They have left their behaviour in semi permanent record in writing for all to see. Now if you do buy the game and remain silent this won't be a direct issue, but shutting down open conversation like this destroys community, transparency and accountability. All of which are critical for a community reliant and driven game to thrive. At this rate Door Kickers 2 will have a functional game with nobody to play it because the devs banned everyone. I refuse to be silent or intimidated by online bullies. Harass me all you will, but I'll be reporting you directly to Steam not merely muting you. Adjust your behaviour the sake of the game and a healthy community, I implore you.
yea its cool but ive owned it for at least a couple of years now why is it still early access? Laziness or just hiding behind the early access tag in case there are issues? its 4 years old... its not "early" at all.
The game is not dead. They are working on the next big update. It's 1.0 I believe, they just don't post updates on steam for whatever reason. Join the official discord to stay up to date. They game in its current state is amazing. Lots of content lots of fun and lots of explosions!
Love it, i always play with full planning and just watch the whole gang in action. Makes me feels like some sort of tactical geniuses. 1 big problem though, this game is already in early access for FOUR years and right now (2024) its still 0.36. Not even campaign are released yet. Which mean you have to be content with playing maps with no narrative and downloading steam maps. Don't even expect the game to be finished before you have your second child.
Great game, dead game. It's fun if you want to try a swat sim, especially with the mod that makes complete for of war, but I would be lying to say that the game isn't dead, the last update is nearly a year old
this is the game that broke me with regards to supporting early access games. I will not be purchasing early Killhouse releases in the future. no substantial update since Sept 2023, devs have now said "we don't care if it takes 3 or 30 years to finish this game" and I don't actually think they know that saying that is a generally bad thing. near abandonware dev cycle in terms of sizable updates. any questions in forums/discord/etc around this topic are met with bans and basically insults, even though someone needs to ask the damn question. this game is good if you enjoyed DK1. it is by no means a bad game. that said, with the community engagement, attitude from the devs and their community manager, and a p a i n s t a k i n g l y slow update cycle with literally nothing to keep or generate interest between intermediary updates - i cannot recommend purchasing this in early access. I purchased this game on EA-release or close to it (can't specifically recall) and made the stupid assumption that the release would be soon to follow. this was a bad gamble, and a pretty bad investment. this release makes me question supporting EA games in the future, and it's completely turned me away from supporting this team again in the future, which is unfortunate.
I WISH I could recommend this game but the moderators and devs are EXTREMELY toxic, and silence/ban anyone who asks them why they don't post news updates. As of this review, the last post was 5 months ago, and that was only after they banned people for asking why there wasn't an update for 7 months. If you ask them why there is a lack of updates, they flag you to steam for "Inappropriate Content" and then personally insult you, and gaslight you in private messages. As someone who owns THOUSANDS of games on this platform, including MANY early access games, even from single person team developers, I have never seen a more toxic community moderation who believe that they are somehow helping their game by banning people for asking for news about their game. They have no idea how to run a player community and are incapable of handling any feedback that isn't 100% bowing down to them. AVOID THIS DEVELOPER LIKE THE PLAGUE.
It should be mandatory for developers to FINNISH their game, or refund. Last update almost year ago. One of the Early access dropouts? Game itself, is good, but I don't like that game is forgotten. I will change my review when this is released, if ever.
this is a abandoned game. i asked for a release date since they are three years behind and no major updates in the past year and i got insulted and kicked from the discord for asking if they are going to release the game soon. i got told " when its ready you idiot." by a developer on the discord. that is a disgusting display of behavior i wish i could get a refund at this point.
Giving the game a bad review not because the game is bad, but because the Devs have gone nearly eight months without updating the game at all. Steam workshop helps keep the game entertaining but without any new content for such a long time its not been able to keep my constant attention. Regardless its still a really good game and I do recommend it if this is your style of game. Just want the Devs to do something with it instead of keeping us all waiting
