What the community wishes

Improve puzzle difficulty and variety
Puzzles are described as too simple or tedious, lacking depth and challenge. Adding more complex or varied puzzles could enhance engagement and replayability.
Clarify wall pass-through mechanics
Players find it difficult to distinguish between walls that can be passed through and those that cannot. Clearer visual cues or mechanics could reduce frustration.
Add more exciting level design
Some levels feel monotonous with too much walking and not enough action. Introducing more dynamic or exciting level designs could improve pacing and player interest.
Improve accessibility for motor impairments
Timing-based puzzles are challenging for players with motility issues. Adding difficulty settings or alternative mechanics could make the game more inclusive.
Streamline achievement completion
Achievements are missable and require replaying the game, which can feel tedious. Allowing players to unlock achievements more organically or providing better hints could improve the experience.
Enhance story engagement and depth
The story and protagonist are described as generic and lacking emotional connection. Adding more character development or narrative depth could improve player investment.
Add skip option for cutscenes
Players cannot skip lengthy cutscenes, which can be frustrating during replays. Adding a skip feature would improve replayability and convenience.
Expand gameplay length and content
The game is short, and some players feel it ends too quickly. Expanding the length or adding more content could provide a more satisfying experience.
Improve exploration freedom
Players feel locked out of zones prematurely, which can be frustrating. Allowing more freedom to explore before progressing could enhance the experience.
Add VR support officially
The game works well in VR with mods, but official VR support could enhance the experience and make it more accessible to a wider audience.
Refine checkpoint and save system
The auto-save sign is hard to see, causing confusion. Improving visibility or adding manual save options could reduce frustration.
Add more challenging platforming sections
Platforming is described as too easy. Introducing more challenging sections could add depth and excitement to the gameplay.
Improve visual storytelling clarity
The story and mechanics are left too open to interpretation, which can confuse players. Adding subtle hints or clearer visual storytelling could improve understanding.
Reduce achievement missability
Many achievements are missable in the first run, requiring replays. Reducing missability or providing clearer guidance could improve the experience.
Add more interactive elements
Some players feel the game lacks interactivity. Adding more interactive elements or mechanics could make the world feel more alive.
Improve pacing and flow
The pacing is described as slow and uneven. Adjusting the flow of gameplay and story progression could make the experience more engaging.
Add more emotional depth to protagonist
The protagonist lacks emotional connection with players. Adding more expressive animations or interactions could deepen the emotional impact.
Expand on optional content

Improve visual clarity in puzzles

So far, amazing game with the most beautiful art i've seen in a video game and it's really calming too. Edit: I just finished the game and.. honest to god, this has got to be one of my most fav games I've ever played. THIS IS A WORTH TO PLAY. YOU CAN NOT MISS IT. Great soundtrack, great story, great art and animation, and puzzles aren't that hard but still fun to play.

Negative

Gris is a game I really wanted to like. From the beautiful visuals to the incredible sound track, on paper this game has it all. The problem for me lies within the gameplay. I found myself playing a walking simulator and not a real fun one. There were definitely highlights, but in general the game felt so slow and the pacing was pretty bad. I think the studio has done an awesome job creating a piece of art that many have loved playing, sadly I cannot find myself amongst them.

  • Sentiments

    • I really wanted to like Gris because of its beautiful visuals and incredible soundtrack, which made it seem like it had everything on paper.
    • The gameplay felt like a walking simulator, which I did not find enjoyable or engaging.
    • The pacing of the game felt slow and poorly executed, which detracted from my overall experience.
    • There were some highlights in the game, but they were not enough to make up for the general lack of fun.
    • I think the studio did an awesome job creating a piece of art that many people have loved playing.
    • Sadly, I cannot find myself among those who loved playing Gris, despite its artistic qualities.

Negative

Pretty visuals and music. And, sadly, thats about it. Puzzles are nothing special, secret hunting... i'd say it was tedious and unnecassary. Movement and platforming is good tho. Get it only for art enjoyment, apart from that game doesn't have that much to offer.

  • Sentiments

    • I found the visuals of the game to be pretty and aesthetically pleasing.
    • I enjoyed the music in the game, as it added to the overall experience.
    • I felt that the puzzles in the game were nothing special and lacked creativity.
    • I found the secret hunting aspect of the game to be tedious and unnecessary.
    • I thought the movement and platforming mechanics in the game were well-executed and enjoyable.
    • I believe the game is worth getting only for the enjoyment of its art and visuals.
    • I felt that the game doesn't offer much beyond its art and visuals, making it lack depth.

Negative

If you have any motility issues with your hands, this is really hard. The timing is crucial for some puzzles (like the Blue Ice) and it does not have enough settings to reduce difficulty for exceptionalities.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game to be really hard for players with motility issues in their hands, as the timing required for certain puzzles is crucial and challenging.
    • I feel that the game lacks sufficient settings to reduce difficulty for players with exceptionalities, which makes it less accessible.

Negative

It's beautiful, but I was bored. A lot of people really like it though, so I dunno, give it a shot. But I've played for a few hours and I don't think it's gonna evolve into a different game that really grabs my interest.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game visually beautiful, which is a positive aspect that stands out to me.
    • I feel bored after playing the game for a few hours, which makes the experience less engaging for me.
    • I acknowledge that a lot of people really like the game, which makes me think it might still be worth trying despite my personal experience.
    • I don't think the game will evolve into something that grabs my interest, which makes me feel disappointed about its potential.

Negative

Beautiful graphics but has no cake under the frosting. The puzzle solving part is laughable, the platforming sections are lacking. This game tries to be something it is not and it shows. As someone who suffers from depression I wanted to love GRIS but I can't recommend it to anyone with mental illnesses or ADHD especially if you're an achievement hunter. Being anxious and frustrated every time the game locks you out of a zone before you fully explore it isn't something I crave to experince in such sort of games. It's slightly mended by the option to replay any chapter but only *after* beating the game. And you still can't skip any cutscene, which can be lengthy. The story itself isn't anything to write home about and a very generic protagonist doesn't help to get invested in it. She doesn't do anything to bond with the player, so there's always a disconnect between the sufferings she has to overcome and the puzzles *I* need to solve. Maybe if it followed in the footsteps of 'What Remains of Edith Finch' it would manage to tell its story better, but as it is it's a mediocre experience at best and totally forgettable at worst.

  • Sentiments

    • I appreciate the beautiful graphics of the game, which stand out as a positive aspect.
    • I find the puzzle-solving elements to be laughable and poorly executed, which detracts from the experience.
    • The platforming sections feel lacking and fail to meet expectations, leaving me disappointed.
    • I feel the game tries to be something it is not, and this inconsistency is evident throughout.
    • As someone with depression, I wanted to love GRIS but cannot recommend it to others with mental illnesses or ADHD, especially achievement hunters.
    • I feel anxious and frustrated when the game locks me out of zones before I can fully explore them, which is not enjoyable.
    • The option to replay chapters after beating the game slightly mends the experience, but it is not enough to fully address the issues.
    • I am annoyed by the inability to skip lengthy cutscenes, which adds to the frustration.
    • I find the story to be generic and unremarkable, failing to leave a lasting impression.
    • I feel a disconnect with the protagonist, as she does nothing to bond with the player, making it hard to invest in her struggles.
