The best roguelike ever made, hands-down. Hades adds an entirely unique spin on the genre by having every single run enhance and progress everything around you. They enhance the characters, improve relationships, add depth to the history of the world, progress the story, gives you the ability to change and improve the abilities of your character, and modify the aesthetic of your House. The story is great, giving interesting interpretations of the entire Greek Pantheon and many connected mythological figures. It was a joy to speak to every character, and the dialogue is wonderfully written. As with most roguelikes, the end is never the end. Hades has post-game content, post-post-game content, and post-post-post-game content. Even after you completely drain the story dry, there are hundreds of unique dialogue options still to be found from side content, missions, relationships, and upgrades. It took me 400 hours to 100% this game, so you will not run out of things to do for a very long time. The roguelike combat itself is great. It feels very intuitive and smooth, and all of the different combinations of powers, weapons, and boons allow for each run to feel entirely unique. The whole game is masterfully crafted, both in gameplay and story. A must-play for any roguelike fan.

Hades is, without a doubt, one of the best games in its genre. What stands out the most is the sheer amount of possibilities in combat thanks to the combinations of weapons, blessings, and items you can choose from in each run. Each time you play, you improve and discover new synergies, making it very addictive and varied. The characters are very well developed and have tons of interactions, although they are sometimes somewhat random. This can make completing certain parts of the story or unlocking specific dialogues a little slower than expected. However, the base game is just long enough to keep you engaged without feeling too short or too long. Highly recommended for fans of roguelikes and action games!
I have nothing against roguelites where you repeat through the same areas over and over, improving yourself each time, but in Hades it feels like the only thing you're improving is your stat upgrades, not your skill level, as the combat doesn't have much to it and feels extremely mindless and repetitive. When you do complete a run you find out that you just have to do the same thing over and over a dozen times just to progress the story, which I found to be a very lazy way to make your game longer. And is made worse by how monotonous and tedious the combat is, as well as the bosses being very unexciting and slow while being extremely tanky. I also found many of the different power-ups and weapons you can choose very uninteresting to use. The art style and presentation in this game is pretty good. I personally wasn't really immersed with the characters and dialogue and narration in the game. I understand why people would like it but just wasn't for me. Not what I play a roguelite for either. Very overrated, 3/10
Visuals and storytelling are great but combat doesn’t feel “roguelike” to me. The buffs dont usually interact with each other in a satisfying way. Movesets are very limited, and doesn’t fulfill the roguelike fantasy of getting pieces to click together. Maybe I’m missing something but this game isn’t doing it for me despite giving it over 10 hours.
Hades has a lot going for it. It is basically Diablo mashed with Dead Cells and given both a Greek pastiche and a much stronger story. The story is wonderfully voice acted, even though a number of pronunciations are off, which comes across as jarring. Nonetheless the story is the highlight, the driving force behind the game. It keeps you wanting to play. That is, until you reach the end. As with Dead Cells before it, the end isn't actually the end, you need to go back and repeat the whole game over again and again and again. There are only four levels and they don't actually vary that much except in terms of the rewards you gain along the way, said reward will make or break your play through. This makes the game just a long, interminable grind, and this is why I cannot recommend Hades - minimal effort crafting a variety of levels and encounters coupled with grind/busywork just to experience the story. That feels like lazy design and a slap in the face by a studio known for crafting compelling narratives. Look, the game isn't horrible. It has good music. The stylized graphics are spectacular, and the action can be delightfully frenetic; though, this can lead to very Diablo like situations of "where's my cursor?!" Even though there is a high contrast option for the cursor to help you find it, its not enough; though, I've yet to see an isometric game that has fixed this issue. However, everything it has going for it cannot outweigh the grind that it foists upon the player.
Having an artificial wall put in just to drag out the small amount of content is just not a fun experience. It would be fine if the combat wasn't just constant spamming, and the enemies were varied, but that's not the case here. The game is basically a grindfest, where draw luck is the main contributor to your success. It's just not fun if you ever intend to "finish" the game.
If this is a rogue-like... then so is league of legends. At the end of both all you lose is your abilities, your time and occasionally your dignity. Incredibly fun beating it for the first time, but ultimately not enough variation in enemies/locations to stay appealing over the course of time you're expected to play to reveal all there is in the world/character relations. (think binding of isaac but significantly less variation) The writing, characters and art are really REALLY well done. The combat before i played appeared to be skillful, tho it quickly devolved into "mash ADAD and space while clicking.". MAIN critique of the game: After first completion it starts functioning like a mobile game's progression grind. Verrry little progress, very little character development and rising expenses for grind-able items that are used to improve character strength. What this essentially does is retain the same level of difficulty overall do to various strength progressions but just with more lights, particles or mobs. (Of course theres the argument you COULD raise it to a rogue-like level of difficulty but that would imply you already had a good understanding of the difficulty system you are presented with, which you dont have at that point in time. 6/10. Bittersweet. DO NOT buy if you get bored of hack and slash, cause you're gonna do it...a LOT.
