What the community wishes

Add Steam Workshop support
The game lacks official modding support, forcing players to rely on browser clones or suspicious downloads. Adding Steam Workshop would enhance the game's value and accessibility for modding.
Expand modding accessibility
The community thrives on fan-made content, but modding is not officially supported. Easier access to modding tools and a workshop would make the Steam version more worthwhile.
Include custom sound workshop
The game would benefit from a workshop feature for custom sounds, significantly enhancing creativity and replayability.
Increase version update frequency
Updates take too long, leading to player impatience. More frequent updates or new versions would keep the community engaged.
Fix game-breaking pause bug
Pausing the game right when it loops causes it to break. This bug needs immediate attention to improve user experience.
Add achievements for engagement
The lack of achievements reduces replayability. Adding achievements would give players more goals and incentives to keep playing.
Improve graphics and controls
Graphics and controls are rated poorly. Enhancing these aspects would make the game more visually appealing and user-friendly.
Add playlist and browsing features
Players want the ability to view songs from multiple versions at once, like playlists or browsing options, to enhance music creation.
Clarify royalty-free music policy
The game does not clearly state that the music created is not royalty-free. Transparency about this would prevent player dissatisfaction.
Expand sound customization options
The game feels limited due to repetitive sounds and lack of freedom in mixing styles. Adding more customization options would enhance creativity.
Address game not starting bug
Many players experience a bug where the game fails to start. This issue needs to be resolved to ensure accessibility.
Add more versions and content
Players want more versions and bonus content to keep the game fresh and engaging over time.
Improve replayability with new features
The game becomes boring after a few hours. Adding new features or gameplay mechanics would improve replayability.
Make music creation more flexible
The game lacks the ability to edit sounds, limiting creativity. Adding more flexible music creation tools would enhance the experience.
Offer more value for price
The paid version offers little more than the free online version. Adding exclusive content or features would justify the price.
Add cross-version song mixing
Players want the ability to mix sounds from different versions, which would add depth and variety to music creation.
Improve onboarding for new players
New players may find the game repetitive or limited. Better tutorials or onboarding could help them appreciate its depth.
Add more lore and storytelling
The game includes some lore, but expanding on this with more storytelling elements would enrich the experience.
Optimize game for low-end PCs
The game's PC requirements are high. Optimizing it for lower-end systems would make it accessible to a wider audience.
Add more interactive gameplay elements
The game feels like a 'play and put down' experience. Adding more interactive elements would make it more engaging.

In-depth analysis of most impactful community reviews

Positive

Why doesn't this game have a steam workshop? Seriously people, this game came all the way from a little flash project to a fleshed out community. It is something beautiful to see how many mods people are making for it, but there's no official support for modding, so if you want to play mods, it's either scratch browser clones, or suspicious download links. Please "So Far So Good" , consider this. You want children to learn to make songs, and they really are. Create a workshop and the value of your game will go through the roof and beyond.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel amazed and impressed by how this game evolved from a small flash project into a fully fleshed-out community-driven experience.
    • I find it beautiful to see the creativity and dedication of the community in creating so many mods for this game.
    • I am disappointed and frustrated by the lack of official support for modding, which limits the accessibility and safety of mods.
    • I feel concerned about having to rely on scratch browser clones or suspicious download links to play mods, which feels inconvenient and risky.
    • I strongly believe that adding a Steam Workshop would significantly increase the value and appeal of the game, especially for children learning to create songs.
    • I feel hopeful and optimistic that the developers will consider adding a workshop, as it could elevate the game's potential and community engagement.

Positive

For new people who never played Incredibox before or played it in Flash era, they might see this game as boring, repeating the same sounds and listening it over and over, and not much options, only 9 version available with chance of new one once per year. but in my opinion this game is incredible (pun intended) but Im following progress of this game for years, community really became bigger after v8 Dystopia got released, and community is keeping this game alive and less boring with new fan-made content, making mods adding new versions, or animations, Incredibox is the game that inspirited a lot of people to make music, designs and animations and quality of official Incredibox content is masterpiece and very hard to recreate, so if you are planning to buy this game and check out, I really recommend you to check out the community content before thinking this game is boring and giving negative opinion. developers really should give a chance and open workshop for this game, and giving easier access to modding the game, then buying the steam version would be more worth it.

  • Sentiments

    • I think the game might seem boring to new players or those who played it during the Flash era, as it involves repeating the same sounds and has limited options with only 9 versions available and a slow update cycle.
    • In my opinion, the game is incredible and has inspired many people to create music, designs, and animations, which adds to its value and appeal.
    • I believe the community has grown significantly, especially after the release of v8 Dystopia, and it plays a crucial role in keeping the game alive and engaging through fan-made content like mods and animations.
    • I feel the official Incredibox content is a masterpiece and of high quality, making it very hard to recreate, which adds to the game's uniqueness.
    • I recommend new players to explore the community content before forming a negative opinion about the game, as it can change their perspective and make the experience more enjoyable.
    • I think the developers should consider opening a workshop for the game and making modding more accessible, as this would make the Steam version more worthwhile.
    • I find the game repetitive for those who are not familiar with its progression or community-driven content, which might lead to a negative initial impression.
    • I appreciate how the game has inspired creativity in its community, leading to a wide range of fan-made content that enhances the overall experience.
    • I feel the game's slow update cycle, with only one new version per year, might be a drawback for players seeking frequent new content.
    • I believe the game's value lies not just in its official content but also in the vibrant and creative community that surrounds it.

Positive

such a fun little game! remembered playing a free version of this way back and was happy to see it still receiving awesome updates. the songs are all well-crafted and creating own mixes is a blast. if the game had like a workshop or something for custom sounds, this game'd be a solid 12/10, however currently has to sit at a comfy 10/10.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game to be incredibly fun and enjoyable, bringing back fond memories of playing a free version in the past.
    • I am happy to see that the game is still receiving awesome updates, which adds to its appeal.
    • I think the songs in the game are all well-crafted, contributing to a high-quality experience.
    • I find creating my own mixes in the game to be an absolute blast, adding a lot of enjoyment.
    • I believe the game would be even better if it had a workshop or something for custom sounds, which would elevate it further.
    • I currently rate the game a solid 10/10, indicating a very high level of satisfaction.

    • I feel the controls are somewhat frustrating, as they are rated 4 out of 10, making the gameplay less enjoyable.
    • I think the difficulty level is quite low, rated 3 out of 10, which might make the game feel too easy for some players.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel a strong sense of repetition and monotony in the review, as the phrase 'reachin' the stars' is repeated excessively without variation or additional context.

Negative

You can't edit the sounds in any way, shape, or form so therefore you really can't "create your own music" at all. it's just an on/off switch simulator. I truly have no idea why this has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel disappointed that the game does not allow any editing of sounds, which limits the ability to create custom music.
    • I find the game to be more like an on/off switch simulator rather than a creative music-making tool.
    • I am confused and frustrated by the overwhelmingly positive reviews, as I do not see the value in the game.

Negative

I almost feel bad for the negative review but it is deserved. Incredibox was a fun novelty synth that was free online like 10 years ago. It is still free online with most of the sound sets available. It has not improved much since. If you feel nostalgic for this game, just play that. Paying money for this was a waste.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the negative review is deserved because the game has not improved much since its initial release.
    • I think Incredibox was a fun novelty synth when it was free online about 10 years ago.
    • I believe that the game is still free online with most of the sound sets available, which makes paying for it unnecessary.
    • I feel nostalgic for the game, but I think playing the free version is sufficient rather than paying for it.
    • I consider paying money for this game to be a waste because it has not improved significantly over time.

Negative

While I find it pretty cool, it lacks a sense of freedom, or mixing different styles together. Once you make a song, the 'instruments' sound repetitive. With other song makers like FL Studio and Beepbox, there's a lot of stuff to make sure that doesn't happen. But it feels like a play and put down game. You make a sound with all the styles, and then that's it. I do think there can be more potential, though. I had fun making my first songs, and I really liked it. But it was too limited. I wanted to make a potential theme for my horror stories that I've been writing, but none of them seemed like they'd be in a horror movie. If you care about your money, I think you should just play the demo for now.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game pretty cool and had fun making my first songs, which I really liked.
    • The game lacks a sense of freedom and the ability to mix different styles together, which feels limiting.
    • Once a song is made, the 'instruments' sound repetitive, which reduces the enjoyment over time.
    • Compared to other song-making tools like FL Studio and Beepbox, this game feels less versatile and lacks features to prevent repetitiveness.
    • The game feels like a 'play and put down' experience, as there isn’t much to do after creating a song.
    • I think the game has potential for improvement, which gives me hope for future updates or versions.
    • I wanted to create a theme for my horror stories, but none of the styles seemed suitable for a horror movie, which was disappointing.
    • If you care about your money, I recommend playing the demo first before making a purchase decision.

Negative

NOT ROYALTY FREE! I got the game as a meme gift from my friend, and I still feel scamed. At first I thought i migth not be that bad, when I used the free version (that I feel like you should play if you want the game, not the payed one) it seemed prety good. Well, after it was already purchesed and after a lot of diging, turns out the music you make is not royalty free! Making royalty free music was the only reason I didnt hate it from the beging. I feel like the game is trying to HIDE this fact, took ages for me to find anything about that. Also I do get that the songs you can make are pretty limmited which would make it weird if you could just say it's your own, but I still feel the game is trying to misslead people and should make it clear the songs you make are not yours. There isnt even that much content here that isnt in the free online version for being $5. DON'T BUY THIS GAME!

  • Sentiments

    • I feel scammed after purchasing the game, as it did not meet my expectations and the music created is not royalty-free, which was my primary reason for buying it.
    • I initially thought the game might not be bad after trying the free version, which seemed pretty good and worth playing.
    • I feel misled because the game does not clearly state that the music created is not royalty-free, and it took a lot of effort to find this information.
    • I believe the game is trying to hide the fact that the music you create is not royalty-free, which feels deceptive.
    • I find the songs you can make in the game to be pretty limited, which makes it less appealing despite the price.
    • I feel the game should make it clear that the songs you create are not yours, as this is an important detail for potential buyers.
    • I think the game lacks significant additional content compared to the free online version, making the $5 price tag unjustified.
    • I strongly advise others not to buy this game due to the misleading information and lack of value.

Negative

I wouldn't recommend buying this because you can experience it online for free. not only the game but the tracks too. It's good, but it feels like a waste of money now that I know that a free version was around the corner anyway.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that buying this game is not worth it because a free version is available online, which makes the purchase seem unnecessary.
    • I think the game itself is good, but the availability of a free version diminishes its value.
    • I believe the tracks in the game are also available for free, which adds to the feeling that purchasing it is a waste of money.
    • I feel disappointed knowing that a free version was available shortly after I made the purchase.
    • I think the game is enjoyable, but the existence of a free alternative overshadows its positive aspects.
