A good singleplayer game with potential to be extremely fun with friends but the lack of custom level editor just makes this game irrelevant in the long run, rhythm games live and die by their content and this one has very little replayability unfortunately Still worth its price but probably the greatest wasted potential in its genre
Game is dead now unfortunately as no one really knows about it anymore and this is sad because this is a very cool rhythm game and it also has a surprisingly good story. Everything is good in this game: the music, the mechanics, the menus. Unfortunately the developers rarely update the game and the players can't create their own level so there isn't anything new. Overall it's a good rhythm game that wasn't too hard for me.
Short but fun. Has cool songs and levels like CLOSE TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. CLOSE TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. CLOSE TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. CLOSE TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Wish it was longer.
The game is not bad by any means, I just can't stand the it's not over screen. The first time it happened really pissed me off. Without warming I had to waste time just clicking to play the level from the start. Losing all checkpoint progress without warning is one thing, but it happens in levels without check points too. I just want to grind difficult levels, not to have to waste time every few attempts. In a fast paces game 10-15 seconds to restart a level feels like an eternity.
i'm gonna be honest..... i didn't really enjoy just shapes & beats... i finished the story in about 3 hours and it felt like a chore the whole way through, theres cool graphics and nice music but the gameplay just never clicked for me.
Just so incredibly disappointing. If I could give this a "meh" I would. It's got so much potential, but it gets held back by boring choreography (where the screen can be going wild, but you only need to dodge every 5 seconds), and bad telegraphing (despite having a good system built in to do this!). I'm sure I will come back and finish this game, but every third song feels like a slog, where I'm either waiting for something interesting to happen, or having to memorise every poorly telegraphed attack.
good game but i felt it needed a level editor to be worth the price, especially since gd only costs 4 bucks and has 26 main levels, millions or billions of community made levels and a daily, weekly, and event levels and platformer mode. and the final nail in the coffin, gd was made by one dude in his mom's basement. this game was made by a whole team of people, there should've been more, especially since it's been out for five years so if you want a rhythm game get geometry dash (gd)
*To start out: I would recommend this game to anyone that isn't me.* There's a lot of things I like about this game; the graphics, the color, the music, the cutscenes are all what screams "COOL" in terms of concept and how they're executed in the game. They work very well! I like them a LOT! However, I really, REALLY wanted to like this game and I was excited to finally be able to play it. Actually playing the game though, wasn't very enjoyable for me. It's the kind of game that I would enjoy watching other people play. Maybe I don't enjoy bullet hells and maybe that's my fault. I dislike how cheesable a lot of the levels are (granted I didn't play more than like 6) and I dislike the health system, or rather, that it's a bit hard to know when you'll get hit. Bosses not having checkpoints made it difficult (which was probably the point since normal levels have checkpoints) and I even had to switch to Casual after the first boss and that only sort of helped. Not having a game start out with an option to either skip cutscenes or turn them off completely is kind of weak, especially in 2019. I did watch them, but not everyone would do the same. It seems like the game doesn't natively support controllers and even mapping it with Steam was not much better. For a game that requires 360 movement in circular patterns to doge getting hit, the fact that even when mapped to a joystick, the character still moves in 4 directions, makes the game way harder than it has to be. I'm not sure what else to say since I did like most of it in theory just not in practice. If you do like bullet hells and are okay with 4 way directional controls for 360 degree movement and everything else I said that is good about the game, then sure, play it, but it's not for me.
