Katana ZERO is a stylish neo-noir action-platformer that combines fast-paced, instant-death combat with a gripping narrative. With an AI Community Rating of 92.02%, this indie gem has captivated players with its hand-crafted levels, time-manipulation mechanics, and a soundtrack that perfectly complements its brutal acrobatic gameplay. Players praise its satisfying combat, where deflecting bullets, dodging attacks, and using traps create endless possibilities for creative kills. The story, told through cinematic sequences, is enigmatic and keeps you hooked until its cliffhanger ending, which has left fans eagerly awaiting a sequel or DLC. While the game is short, its replayability and unique approach to storytelling make it a standout experience. However, some players note the difficulty spikes and lack of checkpoints can be frustrating, and the chill soundtrack may not match the intensity of the action. If you love fast-paced, skill-based games with a touch of mystery, Katana ZERO is a must-play.
My grandma passed away in her sleep last night and it’s been taking a toll on me. I just picked a random steam game I bought in the summer sale to help try to take my mind of things. I’m really enjoying the story and combat, the soundtrack is also supreme. Would definitely recommend.

Sitting in a room with a therapist, thinking about my drug addiction is not something I've experienced before. However, I feel like being a samurai, tripping balls on giga speed, isn't that bad if it's this enjoyable. Give it a try today, buy the game.

Played this an ungodly amount of hours on other platforms it's one of the last things makes me feel something though recently that's been mild annoyance at the dlc not being out yet. The best game I've ever played, so good it makes me think it was worth wasting my life playing games just to have the privilege of hearing about it. If it isn't in your steam library yet its a fiver on cdkeys dude if you message me ill cover it. edit: I AM NO LONGER COVERING KEYS I AM SO BROKE LIKE SINGLE DIGIT BANK ACCOUNT DESTITUTE
Uhh, I'm torn on this one... The problem was me, not the game. Getting the obvious out of the way first, it has god-tier pixel art and animation and a great soundtrack. It's pretty much worth it just for these. For the most part I didn't like the gameplay. It was a frustrating trial-and-error fest, bad as I am at timing things perfectly. I quickly bounced off Sekiro for instance. This was annoying to me in a similar way. As for the story, it felt like a lot of effort went into it but to me it seemed overly convoluted. I have pretty much no idea what was going on after one play-through. The setting and worldbuilding were very interesting but it left way too many things in the air and open for interpretation. Felt like a Lynch movie. I'm sure people that are into piecing a plot together from scant clues will like it. Not really my thing. I'm marking this negative because for me this was not quite overwhelmingly-positive good. But I can understand why it appeals to many people. I'd buy it from a sale if unsure.
I just didn’t like it. There was not enough gameplay for me in it. I spent too much time on walking and choosing dialog options. What’s even worse a last few chapters had really cool gameplay sections and I just wish there was more of that. Story feels like if Tarantino met with Jodorowsky and they came up of something during lunch break. When it comes to presentation only thing that really stood out and bothered me at the same time was the walking animation of main character. It felt like a model on a catwalk. To sum it up I can see there was an idea behind this game just the execution of that idea didn’t resonate with me.
Good, but too short (<4 hours to finish story) which wouldn't be a problem if they didn't put "To be continued" at the end, and then 5-6 years later still not tell anyone when it will be continued. There's still no release dates or news btw. Just in case you were wondering as of October 2024. When the "continued" part is out we can talk about changing this to positive. This is quite literally half or less than half of a game right now.
I really, REALLY want to recommend this game, but this is Tesco Hotline Miami. It's too short and all of its coolest aspects (the Cyberpunk setting, the branching dialogue, the ethical implications of the story) feel underplayed or just confusing. I hate how the objective coolest part of the game with the best music (the boss fight with the Psychiatrist) is locked behind making very specific choices throughout the game that no one is going to encounter on their first playthrough, which doesn't feel intentional. The gameplay is really fun, fluid and flashy, but again this game is SO short and there's next to no replay value aside from scrubbing through the game to get all the "do this specific thing" achievements and the *gag* speedrun challenges. They tease a second game that has the potential to be awesome at the end, but it's been more than six years. It's time to move on.
Recognizing the immense effort that went into this game, it's not a good game for a person like myself. I'm a very basic gamer, who likes to play games to relax and unwind. That's one of the reasons I like platformers, as it's simple: four directions, jump, shoot, maybe select weapon. I don't like when the game takes more time/effort to master, or makes those basic controls something else. With Katana zero, the mouse control is the first thing that gets into my way. Maybe I'm an old fart, but I just can't get used to it and make it seamless experience. The jumping and striking actions feel counter-intuitive too. Climbing walls is a pain and the attacks seem to live their own life. There seems to be wider range attack and shorter range sword attack, but I can't figure out when they happen... and I ask myself why should I? The game gives me too much resistance and I'm giving up on it. I'm sure for most Steam gamers my issues will sound ridiculous but maybe for someone like myself this will be helpful and my advice would be: don't pay full price for this game if you're still tempted to try it.
