Positive

Killing Floor is a cooperative first-person shooter that pits players against relentless waves of grotesque, zombie-like creatures known as Zeds. Originally a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, the game was later expanded into a standalone title, offering fast-paced, wave-based survival gameplay that prioritizes teamwork and strategic coordination. The game’s core structure is straightforward yet engaging: players choose a class, equip weapons, and work together to fend off increasingly difficult waves of enemies before facing a powerful boss. Each class, or "perk," offers unique bonuses and abilities, allowing for diverse playstyles and team dynamics. The focus on cooperative gameplay is a highlight, as communication and teamwork are vital to survival, especially on higher difficulty levels. Where Killing Floor shines is in its atmosphere. The grim environments, paired with a heavy metal soundtrack and the grotesque designs of the Zeds, create an intense and immersive experience. The slow-motion "Zed Time" mechanic adds cinematic flair, giving players brief moments to line up critical shots or reassess their strategy. However, the game has its shortcomings. The limited number of maps and enemy types can make gameplay feel repetitive over time. The lack of a significant story or narrative depth may deter players looking for more context or purpose in their zombie-slaying. Additionally, the difficulty curve can be punishing for newcomers, particularly without a well-coordinated team. Despite these issues, Killing Floor offers a satisfying and adrenaline-pumping experience, especially for fans of cooperative shooters. Its straightforward premise, combined with the intensity of its gameplay, ensures that it remains a cult classic in the zombie survival genre. Score: 8/10 – A challenging and thrilling co-op shooter with gritty atmosphere and satisfying combat. Best enjoyed with friends

Positive

god tier pve co-op shooter from the long forgotten era where developers knew how to make fun games with a dark aesthetic, unique sense of style, and deep co-op mechanics instead of harping on turning everything into a sterile hero shooter with smarmy self-referential humor where everyone can just run and slide around hopped on speed without having to actually, you know, co-operate this unique mix of dark and foreboding survival horror aesthetic and feel combined with genuinely funny campy humor is something we'll never see again, it's a true product of its time in the best way imaginable

    • I feel nostalgic for the era when games like this were made, as they focused on creativity and atmosphere rather than trends.
    • I think the game's humor is genuinely funny and adds to its charm, making it stand out from other titles.
    • I find the dark aesthetic and survival horror elements to be immersive and well-executed.

Positive

Great game and lots of fun to play with friends. Despite it being dated I think this is still a game well worth buying to play with friends. The combat is superb and it's a lot of fun to bump up the difficulty and try and beat the level and very frantic and rewarding to do so. The games title is a bit misleading though as at no point did I kill a floor or get killed by the floor.

Positive

Name any other game where: 1 - You can make friends 2 - They can join your games in minutes and leave any time 3 - Cooperation is incentivized 4 - You can host your own server 5 - Has a near-infinite sense of progression (thanks to Scrnbalance/Serverperks) 6 - Someone can rack up ~10k hours of playtime I won't wait. I know there isn't any, modern gaming wants you alone, depressed, living paycheck to paycheck and playing with random people. This game is the last of its kind, turn your back on it at your own peril. If you tried and didn't like it, you just failed to understand it.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel this game is unique because it allows me to make friends and have them join my games seamlessly, which is rare in modern gaming.
    • I appreciate that cooperation is incentivized in this game, making teamwork a core part of the experience.
    • I value the ability to host my own server, giving me control over my gaming environment.
    • I find the near-infinite sense of progression, enabled by Scrnbalance/Serverperks, to be incredibly rewarding and engaging.
    • I am impressed that someone can spend around 10,000 hours playing this game, which speaks to its depth and replayability.
    • I believe modern gaming often isolates players, making them feel alone and disconnected, which is a negative trend.
    • I think this game is the last of its kind, and turning away from it would be a mistake, as it offers something truly special.
    • I feel that if someone didn’t enjoy this game, it’s because they failed to understand its depth and unique qualities.
    • I am concerned that modern gaming pushes players into a cycle of loneliness and financial stress, which is a negative aspect of the industry.
    • I consider this game to be a rare gem in an industry that often prioritizes profit over meaningful player experiences.

Negative
Pretty much obsolete right now. Not much playable anymore - small amount of servers, problems with connecting and such. More waiting than actual playing the game. On plus there's plenty of mods so you can change characters or grab some new maps. But to be honest just skip on this one and grab newer version.
• I appreciate that there are plenty of mods available, which adds some variety to the game.
    • I like that mods allow changing characters or grabbing new maps, which enhances the game.
    • I think it's better to skip this version and grab the newer one, as it seems more worthwhile.

Killing Floor is an old co-op FPS zombies game where you have to go through waves of zombies with different classes in different maps and on different difficulties. I understand why people love this game, especially being one of the first in its genre, but I personally have not enjoyed it a lot, and I believe that there are many better co-op zombie games out there. It is pretty outdated in my opinion. The gameplay in general is quite repetitive even though there is a variety of classes, maps, and difficulties. In addition, the sound effects, and the slow motion are a bit annoying. 5/10.

This game is one of those situations where... After KF2 came out, and enjoying the game ever so much, but either come back to KF1 because a friend or wanted to feel what KF1 is like... then realize how janky and very poor KF1 was, and never understanding so many liking KF1 and hating KF2 cause of not just nostalgia but don't like change, I personally didnt like this game all that much due to how janky it is to heal as a Medic [and i mean legit jank hit detection], But just how janky and poorly optimized Unreal Engine 2.5 was and still is to this day [no, i have a good PC lol] It's not all THAT terrible game though as the game is somewhat still okay, i just wish there was a "meh" recommendation, Cause while KF1 is the reason KF2 is what it was back then, it makes me appreciate that KF2 has improved so much compared to this mediocre garbage of a game and have it forever uninstalled. but hey, that's just my opinion afterall. weither you like it or not.

  • Sentiments

    • I personally didn't like this game all that much due to how janky it is to heal as a Medic, especially with the poor hit detection.
    • I found the game to be poorly optimized, even on a good PC, which made the experience frustrating.
    • I appreciate that KF2 has improved so much compared to KF1, which I consider mediocre garbage.
    • I think KF1 is not all that terrible, but it is still just an okay game overall.
    • I believe many people like KF1 and dislike KF2 due to nostalgia and resistance to change.
    • I feel that KF1 is janky and poorly designed, which makes it hard to enjoy compared to KF2.
    • I wish there was a 'meh' recommendation for KF1 because it doesn't fully deserve a negative or positive rating.
    • I have uninstalled KF1 permanently because I find it to be a mediocre and outdated game.
    • I acknowledge that KF1 is the reason KF2 exists, which makes me appreciate the improvements in the sequel.
    • I understand that my opinion on KF1 might differ from others, but I stand by my view of it being a flawed game.

Sadly it was totally unplayable. Continually minimised the screen randomly as well as when the right mouse button is clicked to aim. within 10 minutes I think I was able to shoot 3 or 4 enemies. Very sad as I was looking forward to trying this series.
