This was hard to play, and even harder to write. My brother played this shortly before he passed and it was his favorite game. I was afraid to play, and having to confront the decisions you make and their consequences made this extremely hard to get through. But it has helped me understand both the main characters struggle but my struggle as well as well as my wishes to go back and 'change things'. Not many games can boast changing a players life, but this has certainly changed mine. Thank you for making this, and thank you for helping me process my own losses in life.

"This Action Will Have Consequences" I don't know where to begin... After finishing it like 3 times now there's simply no game that comes close to what this game has to offer in terms of choices matter. This game broke(Good type) the industry a decade ago (take note , this game was released in 2015) and that's coming from me, a Mass Effect fan. The most critically acclaimed game (going 1v1 The Witcher 3), changed my life in seeing/viewing life. There's so much emotion put in this game , you are literally invested in all the characters and everything is written so fucking good .Well done DONTNOD, you deserve every praise. From music to character development, this game has everything. Action and exploration need I say more...actually , yes there's , lot of sadness so be sure you are as dead as me inside(I finished it 3 times). It's really Joeover for the gaming industry isn't? WE ARE NOT SEEING GAMES LIKE THIS ANYMORE. The gaming industry has gone full fucking WOKE and CORPORATE GREED. Fortunate for us DONTNOD is still making games. I'm looking forward to what DONTNOD has to offer as they just released the trailer for their new LIS inspired game, called Lost Records. I will be continuing to support them. Please give this beautiful franchise a go, as not a lot people like this type of games. You will not regret it. Trust me. Also, you do not have to play the remastered versions as they only have better emotions a.k.a visuals and lighting, rather stick with the original as the nostalgia for coming back to it will be worth it ,but I'm aware that buying the remastered versions is a lot cheaper in some countries. Other than that, its really all up to you,but I'd stick to the original. 20/10 Bae over Bay, Always Shaka Brah.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that this game is unparalleled in terms of how choices matter, and it has set a new standard for the industry.
    • I believe this game broke the industry in a good way, offering something truly unique and impactful.
    • I am deeply invested in the characters and emotionally moved by the writing, which I find to be exceptionally well done.
    • I think the music and character development in this game are outstanding, adding to its overall quality.
    • I feel a lot of sadness while playing this game, which adds to its emotional depth and impact.
    • I am disappointed that the gaming industry has shifted towards being overly 'woke' and driven by corporate greed, making games like this rare.
    • I am excited and supportive of DONTNOD's future projects, especially their new game inspired by Life is Strange.
    • I highly recommend this game to others, as I believe it is a unique and worthwhile experience.
    • I prefer the original version of the game over the remastered one due to nostalgia, though I acknowledge the remastered version is cheaper in some regions.
    • I rate this game 20/10, as it has had a profound impact on me and exceeds all expectations.

Negative

This game had a lot of potential, the setting, soundtrack and feel of the game are quite intriguing. The main problem is the characters. They are all insufferable. And for a game that depends on characters interacting, it's a big minus.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the game had a lot of potential, which is a positive aspect that makes me hopeful about its concept and design.
    • I find the setting of the game to be quite intriguing, which adds to the overall appeal and immersion of the experience.
    • I think the soundtrack of the game is well-crafted and enhances the atmosphere, making it a standout feature.
    • I believe the feel of the game is captivating, which contributes positively to the overall experience.
    • I feel that the characters in the game are insufferable, which significantly detracts from my enjoyment of the game.
    • I think the reliance on character interactions is a core aspect of the game, and the poor character design negatively impacts this.

Negative

I really, really, REALLY don't understand how this has 96% rating on steam. This game is quite possibly one of the worst games I've ever played. The story is incredibly bad and boring and all the characters they want you to like aren't likable at all besides Kate, but she either dies at the end of episode 2, or you get to see her once or twice after episode 2 if you save her and one of the characters that they want you to rout against (David) is one of the only good ones. The main character, Max, is one of the most hollow characters I've ever played as in a videogame. She's a completely empty husk waiting to be controlled by the player and doesn't have a personality besides liking photography. The entire game hinges on you bonding with and liking Chloe, but Chloe is a very annoying and bad person. She constantly claims that Max abandoned her, she gets mad at you when you listen to her advice and hide in her closet away from her step dad, she constantly manipulates Max into using her powers on stupid shit even after she learns that using it too much hurts Max, she gets sad if you choose not to steal money that's supposed to go towards a charity, she gets mad at you if you choose to call a girl who doesn't have the best mental state, she steals a gun from her step dad, she makes fun of Max for not wanting to play with a gun, she gets pissed at Max for not wanting to take a human life, and more. She was so unlikable that the writers try to make you feel bad by making her crippled in an alternate timeline that you visit. If you want to play games in the style of this one that has likable main characters with depth and likable side characters with depth, just go to Telltale's games and buy The Walking Dead Series. 2/10

Negative

Played it "in the seas" first and thought on playing it again legitimately would be a great idea but I was wrong, the game is not bad but is boring and shallow. Your choices Don't Matter! The story is written for impact and shock value, its something you realize in retrospective and the reason while you like it the first play time but not the second one. Even on the first playtime the story was getting uninteresting by the end, like its trying to solve stuff because it needs to, it doesn't matter what your player agency is, stuff just happens because it moves the plot. This apply for the game as a whole, not just this episode.

  • Sentiments

    • I initially thought playing the game legitimately would be a great idea after trying it unofficially, but I was wrong.
    • The game is not bad, but it feels boring and shallow to me.
    • I feel like my choices in the game don't matter, which is disappointing.
    • The story is written for impact and shock value, which I realized only in retrospect.
    • I liked the game during the first playthrough, but not during the second one.
    • By the end of the first playthrough, I found the story becoming uninteresting.
    • The story feels like it solves things because it needs to, not because of player agency.
    • I feel like things just happen in the game to move the plot, regardless of my input.
    • This issue applies to the game as a whole, not just this specific episode.

Negative

Rather strange game that is meant for certain audiences. On one hand you have story about kidnapping and murder. On other hand you play as a teen girl who can control time. Feels like Telltale game with lots of exploring and dialogues.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game to be rather strange and niche, as it seems to cater to a specific audience rather than a broad one.
    • I feel intrigued by the dark and mature themes of kidnapping and murder in the story, which adds depth to the narrative.
    • I appreciate the unique concept of playing as a teen girl with the ability to control time, which adds an interesting twist to the gameplay.
    • I notice that the game feels reminiscent of a Telltale game, with its focus on exploration and dialogue-driven gameplay.
    • I feel that the game's mix of dark themes and a teenage protagonist creates an unusual but compelling contrast.

Negative

Life is Strange is embedded in a niche that's impossible to escape from. Its whole vibe is so deeply tied to its Tumblr-esque emotional rollercoaster that trying to force it into something else would be like trying to turn me straight—an absolute impossibility. No matter how much you try to critique or change it, its core identity remains locked in that particular space. It’s a paradox of sorts: trying to make it fit outside its intended style is as futile as rewriting fundamental aspects of who I am. It just is what it is, and that’s not going to change.

  • Sentiments

    • I appreciate that Life is Strange embraces its niche style, even if it means it can't appeal to everyone.
    • I feel that Life is Strange is deeply tied to its unique Tumblr-esque emotional rollercoaster, which makes it impossible to separate from its niche identity.
    • I believe that trying to change or critique Life is Strange to fit outside its intended style is futile, as its core identity is firmly rooted in its specific vibe.
    • I think Life is Strange is what it is, and no amount of critique or alteration can fundamentally change its essence.
    • I find it fascinating that Life is Strange's identity is so strong that it feels like trying to rewrite a fundamental aspect of oneself to change it.
    • I feel that Life is Strange's emotional depth and unique style are integral to its charm, even if they limit its broader appeal.
    • I think the game's identity is so deeply ingrained that it feels like an absolute impossibility to alter it without losing what makes it special.
    • I find it interesting that Life is Strange's style is so specific that it creates a paradox when trying to fit it into other contexts.
    • I believe that Life is Strange's emotional and stylistic choices are deliberate and essential to its storytelling.
    • I feel that Life is Strange's niche appeal is both a strength and a limitation, as it resonates deeply with its target audience but may not reach others.
