Completed September 25, 2024 Started playing this a bit after miles morales, gotta say this is everything I expected and more. I remember always wanting to play Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Windows 7 as a kid but coming from a lower income household my parents could never afford it. I was pretty excited when they bought me a pirated DVD to install and play it but sadly it never worked out. Growing up now the excitement has mostly faded away and although Insomniac's Spider-Man wasn't able to help me relive that feeling, it pretty much encapsulates everything I ever wanted in a Spider-Man game. The open-world experience was so addicting. Surprisingly, it's very well optimized for PC and even my Steam Deck. Seriously this has to be one of the best ports of a game I've ever played. The cinematic execution and storytelling were breathtaking and I loved every chapter the main campaign had to offer. The side quests on the other hand can become repetitive and boring after a while, but at least for me that only happened far in NG+. I still love swinging around the city and fighting baddies along the way even after having Fast Travel unlocked. Extremely Recommended! Instead of the resilient and morally strong hero we once knew, he now appears to be a walkover, especially in his interactions with Mary Jane. Her character has taken on a self-entitled and manipulative streak, constantly overshadowing Peter and making him seem indecisive and easily swayed. This dynamic diminishes the integrity and strength that originally defined Spider-Man, turning him into a shadow of his former self. It's a frustrating change that undermines the core of what made Peter Parker a relatable and inspiring hero. But what CAN we say? I'm surprised people even believe this one is a noteworthy addition to the series. The missions get repetitive, the game has an interesting way of freezing mid game, (I use an RTX 3050 MSI Laptop), maybe the good parts of it are the stoichiometry and the circuit balancing. This Peter Parker comes across as too stupid to realize he can be doing wayyyy more with his intellect outside of the usual super hero business. The graphics were amazing. And I have a feeling the dlc will just be another strong female character walking over Spiderman (Felicia and Sable but let me keep an open mind until I see it). The combat though? Great. Absolutely great. If you did all the side missions before any of the main ones, like getting all backpacks early? You'd cruise through the game. Easy to learn mechanics/ hard to master I'd say is where it's at. 4/10

After playing this game for 9 hours it started to get good, but unfortunately when I hit the 10-hour mark the game kept crashing on me. I tried updating my graphics card, changing my save file, etc. (every recommendation on the internet) to no avail. If you want to play this game, get it on PlayStation, because you risk losing your money by purchasing it on PC. UPDATE: After uninstalling the game I reinstalled it and it worked, although the same issue happened to me again. I just had to do another uninstall/reinstall (not sure if it matters that I used Revo Uninstaller). Turns out I only had about 4 hours of gameplay left and it wasn't that good tbh (subjective, I admit).
