OMORI is a captivating indie RPG adventure that blends vibrant visuals, emotional storytelling, and unique gameplay mechanics. With an AI Community Rating of 90.87%, it’s no surprise players praise its beautiful art style, heartfelt story, and emotional depth. Explore a surreal world filled with colorful characters and uncover a forgotten past, where your choices shape the fate of both your character and others. The game’s turn-based combat, while straightforward, is complemented by a creative emotion system that adds a layer of strategy. However, some players note pacing issues in the Headspace sections and find the combat system lacking depth. Despite these critiques, OMORI’s ability to tackle heavy themes like depression and trauma with sensitivity has resonated deeply with its audience. If you’re drawn to emotionally charged narratives and artistic indie games, OMORI is a must-play. Just be prepared for its slower moments and occasional grind.
Omori, is not a game people should play casually. For alot of people & even me, I played this game to have fun, I did not get that. I got an down to earth explanation for why the stress your feeling is not from the game but from your own trauma. You may have seen videos like Omori ruined my life, but well it really doesn't. Omori helped me process and understand my own trauma, Im not gonna lie, Not well. But at least It was something that actually cared enough to explain why all the traumatic stuff was still hapenning. This is kinda personal but, on Feburary 20th of 2023, after a good amount of therapy (even to this day), A psychiatrist has diagnosed me with Primary PTSD, and secondary Depression. I can blame this game for all I want like others, but without it, I may actually have killed myself.
very silly before this i was normal, now i laugh at stairs Edit: thanks for the likes! but i feel i should also make a legit review on this game. So here we go. Okay, in all seriousness, I have played this game for 28 hours. It was recommended to me by a close friend and I was already slightly looking into the game. I was hearing great things about it already for a super long time and decided to check it out. My first impressions were "Oh wow this game is freaking adorable, how have I not gotten this sooner?" not that these first glances would last long considering the heart-shattering storyline to soon come after. This game has absolutely phenomenal story-telling and gameplay. I have never genuinely cried while playing a game until this. I played this game for 3 days straight just for the endings to break my heart and eat it. In a good way. This game actually gave me a new perspective on different things like mental health and the importance of friendship. I went into a long hour of just thought when I finished this game for the first time. I still think about this game all the time. I recommend this game for people who are in need of a good cry and enjoy horror in the mix of it all. Overall I really really enjoyed this game and I am sure you will too.
Did you have a brother or sister who is better than you in everything? Hiding behind good goals like "I just wanted everything to be perfect", forcing you to do something against your will, eventually pushing you to the limit? Have you ever had situations for which you are ashamed, scared or guilty, when all these dark feelings consume you from the inside, when everyone except you, you yourself has forgiven you for a long time? Have you ever wanted to lock yourself in your room and just recreate the kind of world you want? Have you ever wanted to forget something completely, for ever? Have you ever...? Symbolism, dichotomy, psychology, reflections, trauma, the number of small details as you progress, an unforgettable ending - Omori combines all this. I have never seen games that cover so many eternal, sometimes even existential issues. Finally, topics that were previously tabooed are being raised in the gaming industry. This is what was missing in the games before. Topics of suicide, fear, childhood trauma. And if you think that this should not be discussed, then just the opposite is true. Omori is NOT a depressing game. It shows how difficult the path of a teenager with childhood trauma is, what he goes through to come to terms with something in the past. And such a well-developed, high-quality immersion in this atmosphere deserves attention. Omori is a very deep game, perhaps too deep. There are no elements of fiction in it - everything that happens in the plot can happen or maybe even happened to one of you. Behind the colorful, fictional world is the real world. The real world with all the problems that are left there. Omori teaches that it is never too late to return. If you decide it's too late for you, the end will be the same.
if you're thinking about whether or not to play this game and are kind of on the fence about it - do it. play the game. i have never bawled harder to the ending portion of a game in my life. it is terrifying and funny and gorgeous and emotional and genuinely will change your life. the gameplay is easy to latch onto, the characters are relatable and lovable, the game design is extremely pleasing on the eyes and the soundtrack is beautiful and catchy. god please please play omori if you ever get the chance.

The game has an amazing soundtrack and some incredibly intriguing moments. The problem is that the game filled with boring moments of walking around for a long time or rpg combat which I don't find appealing.
Let me start by saying that this is a fantastic game with a story that is both heartwarming and haunting, and gameplay that enforces that story. With that said, as of May 2024, the Mac version is completely broken, with no response from the devs at all, so I can't finish it.
CONS: - Horrible gameplay - Boring world - Uninteresting characters - Poor pacing - Mechanically simple - Cringe fans Pros: - I got a refund "Oh, the story gets better after *x* hours!" Are the writers entitled to my time? They should fix the story's pacing and/or the mechanical simplicity of the game if they want it to be interesting for more than an hour. "The gameplay isn't supposed to be the main selling point, dude! You play for the story" I play Skyrim for the story, but the gameplay is tolerable. This is just dull, uninspired, simple, and bland garbage.
The ending is insanely good, but the RPG parts really do not interest me. The fights in Headspace are way too hard and you have to grind lesser enemies to gain LVL to be able to beat them. I did everything perfectly in the King Crawler fight twice and lost both times, and then I realised I was just running away from every single enemy I had seen up till now, and you gain LVL after fighting them. I was avoiding them so I could get to the real part of the story by rushing through the wayy too cheery dreamworld distractions. In the end I just watched a walkthrough. The ending is 10/10 though, would 100% recommend if you... like RPGs I guess.
Playing this till sunrise feels strangely nostalgic, especially with certain soundtracks like Spaces Inbetween, Trees..., See You Tomorrow, Lost Library, etc. Other than that, Omori is nice but unfortunately, isn't made for everyone as the pacing can get tedious, gameplay can get repetitive, and overall is very lengthy. I feel like this review could be helpful. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198996221369/recommended/1150690/
