Sekiro™: Shadows Die Twice is a critically acclaimed action-adventure game from FromSoftware, the creators of the Dark Souls series. Set in late 1500s Sengoku Japan, you play as the 'one-armed wolf,' a disgraced warrior on a perilous quest for vengeance and honor. With its blend of stealth, vertical traversal, and visceral combat, Sekiro offers a challenging yet rewarding experience. The game’s stunning visuals and rich story have earned it over 50 awards, including Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2019. The community praises its satisfying combat, beautiful world, and engaging story, reflected in its impressive 89.01% AI Community Rating. However, some players find the difficulty frustrating, and the lack of weapon variety and post-game content can be limiting. If you enjoy intense, skill-based gameplay and a dark, immersive world, Sekiro™: Shadows Die Twice is a must-play.
-get my ass beaten by a boss for hours -rage -beat the boss -say the game is magnificent and the combat is great 10/10 would reccomend Edit: After over 170 hours of getting good etc. the game is still maginificent. Just a bit easier even on all this bs like bell demon and charmless i won't spout cuz it is annoying af. anyways you need to buy this game. magnificent shit Edit: ts shit is absolutely peak after 230 hours and i'm still doing more challenges 10/10
Sekiro is an absolute masterpiece. It is challenging and fun. It enforces an idea that you can do something difficult, if you bring together determination and perseverance, also retrospect your previous failed attempts and improvise on it. The design of the bosses and game mechanics is something i have never experienced in any other games. None! Game is not really perfect, (eg : there are some copy paste of few mini-bosses) but the positives surmounts the amount of negatives. 10/10 : Highly recommended.
10/10 This is the best dark souls game out there. It has a lot of quality of life compared to other older games and when u get good it feels really amazing. Also don't expect it to be too similar to dark souls because it has different mechanics. Lady butterfly for life!
[strike] This is tactical espionage action... [/strike] Combination of good narrative, strong gameplay mechanics and process of learning giving you the most immersive game of From Software studio. It's a linear anti-souls story one hundred percent with amazing sword combat you'll never seen before. It will be so satisfying for you when realization comes out. This game can be beaten without any guide because the world in this game is compact so it can be remembered for months when taking a break like i did myself. Simple and sharp. True masterpiece! Few words about PC version: - i'm not recommending any unnofficial easy mods because of respecting game designers - highly recommending fps unlock mods (dll/background app) for this game because it's not breaking anything in game engine
🌟 10/10 - Masterpiece! 🌟 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an amazing game, especially for anyone who loves challenging, rewarding combat. The swordplay in this game is easily some of the best I've ever experienced. The combat here has this unique rhythm-based feel, where it's all about timing, reacting. Every encounter feels like a deadly dance where you’re constantly parrying, dodging, and counter-attacking to a rhythm that makes each duel exhilarating. Once you get into the groove, pulling off a perfect deflect chain or breaking an enemy’s posture and landing that killing blow, it is so satisfying! Beyond the combat, the game’s world is gorgeous, filled with rich lore and breathtaking scenery, and the story pulls you right in. Every boss fight is intense, forcing you to adapt, learn as you progress. The progression system is fantastic too, offering powerful skills and prosthetic tools that open up new ways to approach each encounter. If you're a fan of skill-based combat and don't mind a steep learning curve, Sekiro is a must-play. It’s tough, but every victory feels like a real achievement. Highly recommended!
2024 Edit: Non-existent main weapon variety, and one-dimensional (deflect-obsessed) combat. Was decent for maybe a couple of plays through, but going back to this game years on, it feels very tired and boring.
As much as it pains me to write this review, I can't recommend someone this game as I myself enjoy it. I feel like Sekiro is a good game that some people could truly enjoy, but take heed on what you're getting into when you buy this. This is not an RPG, it is not a character builder, it's barely a soulslike honestly. It is a half stealth game half rhythm where the slightest mistake bitch slaps you in about 20 different ways. Every enemy kills you in two hits, making fighting any more then one absurdly difficult. The bosses are surrounded by enemies that you have to fight through every single time you want a chance to fight them. You lose half your gold and XP on death, with a CHANCE of that not happening, which is diminished by each death, making dying even more punishing then before. Saving up enough to purchase something feels like a mountain, exploring to find a bunch of consumables that slightly increase your stats feels unsatisfying, and the combat while fun at times is just so brutal and unrelenting combined with all the game's other tactics just feels like being punched in the balls over and over again. I might be given jesters for this honestly, people will laugh and tell me to get good, but honestly as it stands this game just broke me, I hope I can come back later and maybe enjoy it and maybe even beat it, but as of this moment I just have no motivation to play it or try and hone the skills I would need for the absurd difficulty curve. Should you buy it? If so, prepare for what in my opinion is the hardest gaming experience I've ever had, blowing all of FromSoftware's other works out of the water.
This game is a classic FromSoftware installment. You will get pummeled, staggered, ganged up on and destroyed. That would be all cool IF bigger sized enemies would flinch to your attacks. But they don't, unless you get in a counter hit. Bigger enemies are so impervious to your attacks that it renders the whole attack button useless; the only time your attack does any damage is after a dodge or parry. Parry is key, and yet most unreliable. Don't get me wrong. Graphics, sound, gameplay, level design - these are all masterful. But the core gameplay, the thing that makes you progress in the game, is horrible. It is all dependent on the one mechanic that is unreliable or at least hard to master. This brings me to my only frustration with this game. Dare I say that you will spend more time practicing the parry than playing the actual game. This is a gigantic frustration because when I started Sekiro, I wanted to play a single player action game, but now it wants me to play it like a fighting game. If I wanted to spend hundreds of hours in the lab practicing my moves, I would play some Street Fighter. NOT SEKIRO. I play fighting games and I know a little bit about the rewards of spending time in the lab. Those rewards are largely realised in a fighting game owing to the nature of the fighting game itself; after spending a hundred hours in the lab, the match is over within minutes. You are playing against a character who you could choose to be yourself. There is NEVER A LOSS OF GAINS in a fighting game. You do not lose any items or skill points etc. The game does not make you feel like YOU SUCK. The reality is that I do not have the time or patience to put hundred hours of lab time in a single player action game, and this game offers me no motivation to even want to get better at it. If I really have to spend that much time to get better in a game, it does not have to be Sekiro. So at the end of 3 hours, I am dropping this game. #### you, FromSoft.
A poem... I respect this game. I understand I never understood it's fame. But I don't think its fun. More frustrating than rewarding each subsequent run. I love ER and I like DS3, and would play Bloodborne if it came to PC. Yet I can't get how to enjoy this game. I know, I know, I'm lame.
Probably a great game, but a pain to get working if you have a high resolution and/or high refresh rate monitor. There's various suggestions on forums to get it working - some work, but the game crashes or doesn't launch far too often. Works perfectly fine on a basic 1080p 60Hz display.
