SIGNALIS is a gripping survival horror game that blends psychological tension, cosmic dread, and classic puzzle-solving in a dystopian sci-fi world. As Elster, a Replika technician, you’ll unravel a haunting mystery while navigating eerie environments, managing scarce resources, and battling nightmarish creatures. With its retro-futuristic visuals, atmospheric storytelling, and fluid 3D animations, SIGNALIS delivers a cinematic experience inspired by legends like Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch. The game boasts an impressive AI Community Rating of 90.38%, with players praising its immersive story, stunning art, and challenging puzzles. However, some note frustrations with backtracking, repetitive combat, and unclear puzzle objectives. If you love atmospheric horror with a deep narrative, SIGNALIS is a must-play—just be prepared for its melancholic tone and occasional gameplay quirks.
Signalis is like if Silent Hill and Blade Runner had a pixel art baby that constantly wants to scare you and make you question your life choices. You'll be solving puzzles while low on ammo, freaking out over creepy robots, and wondering why the music is so unsettling. 10/10, would panic-save my game again! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2996638248
Every couple of years since 2019 I play a game that shatters my heart into tiny pieces & leaves my soul a hollow shell. I always start out like "oh boy this game is really loved by a lot of people, I should check it out!" and by the time I'm done the light has faded from my eyes & I come out a changed man. It happened with Nier Automata, it happened with Omori, & it happened with Signalis. It'll probably happen again in a few years with something else. I am stuck in a loop, just like {this space is intentionally left blank}. In spite of all that, I would gladly go through it again. If you want to know a fraction of my pain, play Signalis. 10/10 experience.
This game taught me something. It taught me what true love really is. Love that transcends everything. Life, death, even reality. A promise you will do literally anything to keep, no matter how much pain you have to go through. Also it made my depression worse lmao. I would say this game is definitely worth the money. If your considering buying it, just do it, you won't regret it. The story is amazing, idk about life changing but it definitely had a lasting affect on me and I wont forget it. I also love how the lore is done. It keeps giving parts of the lore that you have peice together and leaves you thirsting for more. I honestly still dont fully understand the lore, but its pretty horrifying and deep. And after the ending I literally had to lay there for a few hours lol. Don't look up anything about the story just play the game. The gameplay is also really good it gives off early resident evil vibes and the survival horror aspect is done very well. The enemies are pretty horrifying and the use of lighting is rly good. It also has well designed puzzled that made me feel stupid lol. If your a survival horror fan I would 100% reccomend this. This difficulty and item management can be customized if you want more of a challenge or want to focus on the story. The graphics are great as well because they create a unique vibe by pairing this old analog feel with anime esque art. Also lesbians. Anyways time to wrap up this overly long review. Overall if your reading this give the game a try its most definitely worth it. And the community of mentally unwell people making wholesome content is amazing. So yeah I recommend it but it'll give you deppression. I got the promise ending btw.
This game is so WOKE! I can't even look at it in my steam library without having to take a big hit out of my BONG! Filled with puppygirl ESTROGEN!!! While CRYING!!!! WHAT A FUCKING AWESOME GAME, CAN'T WAIT FOR SCIENCE TO INVENT WOMEN
This game is so amazing, I am NOT a fan of horror or survival games but this one is different. It was the most interesting game ive ever played, I took 18 pages of notes while playing and I am still thinking about the ramifications of its story. The gameplay itself is solid and enhances the story which is the main focus.
good story sandwiched between boring, annoying gameplay. gave up at the third act once i realised i'd have to spend like five more hours slowly walking around shuffling story items and keys, backtracking constantly, facing the same enemies and doing the same puzzles (which are not difficult in that they have clever solutions but are instead just tedious). the psychological horror is limited to the cutscenes and passive sections - it is shockingly easy to just run away from enemies. there's no tension. it's got all the elements of a game that i could enjoy but it's dragged down by how slow and grating huge chunks of the game are. i guess if you like this sort of slow survival horror game then try it out but it's not for me
I found playing this game incredibly tedious. I loved the art and the music and the storytelling approach and the puzzles. Everything else in between was just not fun or interesting. Its like a there's a few diamonds sprinkled in a gigantic vat of raw slurry. I decided to stop sieving in the final area. Cool game, but not for me.
I find it hard to love a game which puts unnecessary hurdles in my way and wastes my time. Is it inherent for a survival horror game to force you to spend half of the time just running back and forth to your storage? If yes, sign me out. How can you ask me to collect 9 progression items on the level and give me only 6 inventory slots. Most of the time those items would fit in a small bag. If only combat had anything going for it. The best parts are exploration, world-building, puzzles and the story, which won't be to everyone's liking, because it's very ambitious and not always successful. Visual style is great as well. I didn't know you could get so much from pixel art and manage to stick in 1st person segments in. It's a half a recommendation from me.
Nah, not my thing. Too slow and repetitive for me, the story and world are good, but they're also quite derivative of other games; sometimes these influences seem like an homage, and in other cases they seem like more of a case of the game pinching too much for its own good. The combat is satisfying, albeit quite simple, but sadly the game has some issues when it comes to stomping on the bodies, like at times stomping the bodies near doors would actually push me through the doors, instead of finishing off the enemies. I also didn't like some of the puzzles, like a lot of them are about sifting through notes to find the right frequency, or the right button combination to use... it works well initially, but after a while it can become quite annoying. The game does have a plethora of options to cuztomize your experience, and tailor it for old school survival horror fans, as well as new ones alike. But personally, it's just not for me, even with these settings... the game simply revolves around the same ideas gameplay wise: go to a floor, find some keys, some locked boxes, then proceed to read notes, to get combinations, to unlock said boxes... I just didn't like the gameplay loop, didn't found it fun or engaging. So there, I guess.
The core game mechanics are fine, the visual style is very good, but although others will undoubtedly like this aspect, I couldn't help but be quite irritated by the presentation of what there is of a story. Very little makes sense, it's very disjointed. Dreams, visions, fragments, flashbacks, and jumps in time and location all do very little to convey what the hell is going on. There's no real explanation or coherent theme for many of the odd locations and puzzles, raising more questions... And then the game ends without much explanation for things. I accept that there are people who like trying to work to piece together something quite so incoherent as this but I'm not one of them; I found it quite annoying.
