AI Review

The Henry Stickmin Collection is a hilarious and nostalgic choose-your-own-path adventure that turns failure into fun. With an impressive AI Community Rating of 92.3%, this indie gem combines humor, creativity, and multiple endings to keep players entertained. The game features six remastered classics, including the brand-new 'Completing the Mission,' offering over-the-top choices like using a teleporter or calling in your buddy Charles. While the story is lighthearted, the real charm lies in its absurd fails and witty references. Fans praise its humor, replayability, and remastered visuals, though some note issues with crashes, repetitive bio collection, and limited replay value. If you enjoy quirky, interactive experiences where failing is half the fun, this collection is a must-play. Just be prepared for occasional technical hiccups and a grind for 100% completion!

What the community wishes

Fix fullscreen and resolution issues
The game has issues with high resolutions and fullscreen mode, causing lag and crashes. This needs to be addressed for a smoother experience.
Reduce repetitive bio collection
Collecting bios becomes repetitive and tedious, especially if missed on the first try. Streamlining this process would improve the 100% completion experience.
Optimize game for stability
Frequent crashes are reported, which can disrupt gameplay. Improving stability and reducing crashes should be a priority.
Add more replay value
The game lacks replay value after completing all endings and achievements. Adding more content or incentives for replay would enhance longevity.
Improve fullscreen crash handling
Specific scenes cause crashes in fullscreen mode. Adding a tip to disable fullscreen or fixing the issue would improve user experience.
Enhance achievement grind
The grind for 100% completion is tedious, especially for bios. Balancing the grind or adding more engaging tasks would help.
Address FNAF cameo criticism
The FNAF cameo is criticized for being out of place. Re-evaluating or replacing it with a more fitting reference could improve reception.
Expand on story depth
While the story is enjoyable, it could benefit from deeper narrative elements or additional branching paths to enhance engagement.
Improve QTE responsiveness
Quick-time events (QTEs) can feel repetitive. Enhancing their responsiveness or variety would make them more engaging.
Add more diverse endings
While the endings are fun, adding more diverse and impactful endings could increase replayability and player satisfaction.
Streamline character bio system
The character bio system distracts from gameplay. Making it less intrusive or more integrated into the experience would improve flow.
Optimize for lower-end PCs
The game requires decent PC specs. Optimizing it for lower-end systems would make it accessible to a wider audience.
Add more interactive elements
The game feels like an interactive movie. Adding more interactive gameplay elements would enhance player engagement.
Expand on emotional moments
The game has emotional moments, but they could be expanded upon to create a deeper connection with the characters.
Improve reference integration
Some references feel forced or outdated. Updating or integrating them more naturally would improve the humor and relevance.
Add more fail variety
While fails are funny, adding more variety and unexpected outcomes would keep the humor fresh and engaging.
Enhance post-game content
The game is relatively short. Adding post-game content or challenges would extend playtime and keep players engaged.
Improve tutorial clarity
Some players find the tutorial unclear. Enhancing its clarity or adding more guidance would help new players understand the mechanics.
Add more character development
While the characters are charming, adding more backstory or development would make them more memorable and engaging.
Optimize for modern platforms
As a port from Flash, the game could benefit from optimizations for modern platforms, ensuring smoother performance and compatibility.

Positive

The Henry Stickmin Collection is a series of old flash games, those games being "slap-stick comedy" games, all remastered, combined, and with a brand new final chapter. It's hard to talk/review the game, since the "games" do not really contain gameplay, again, it's just comedy. What i can say, is that the comedy slaps harder than will smith, and that's not my opinion, that's fact. If you want a goofy, comedic story, with stick figures, then this is a MUST BUY.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that The Henry Stickmin Collection is a great remastered combination of old flash games, which brings nostalgia and a fresh experience.
    • I find the slap-stick comedy in the game to be extremely funny and impactful, even comparing it humorously to Will Smith's slap.
    • I believe the game lacks traditional gameplay mechanics, as it focuses more on comedy rather than interactive elements.
    • I think the game is a must-buy for anyone who enjoys goofy, comedic stories, especially those featuring stick figures.
    • I appreciate the addition of a brand-new final chapter, which adds value and completeness to the collection.
    • I feel the game is more of a comedic experience rather than a traditional video game, which might not appeal to everyone.
    • I find the humor in the game to be universally enjoyable, as it is described as a fact rather than just an opinion.
    • I think the game's focus on comedy over gameplay might limit its appeal to those seeking more interactive or challenging experiences.
    • I feel the game is a great choice for fans of stick-figure animations and lighthearted, humorous content.
    • I believe the game successfully delivers on its promise of being a comedic experience, even if it lacks traditional gameplay elements.

Negative

Good for people who've never played the Henry games before, but not so much for hardcore fans like myself. This being a game on Steam sold for money means that a lot of content had to be redubbed or retextured due to issues with copyright, and as such the game has (I feel) lost a lot of its charm and personality which was rooted in references to old video games and internet culture. The character bios feature is also completely pointless and annoying, a good 60% of the characters you collect bios for are people who don't even talk and no one cares about, but you still have to collect all of them to 100% the game. It distracts you from playing the actual game as instead of actually paying attention to cutscenes it's now about trying to click on as many new heads while the story plays out.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the game has lost a lot of its charm and personality due to the redubbing and retexturing of content, which was necessary because of copyright issues.
    • I think the character bios feature is completely pointless and annoying, as it distracts from the actual gameplay and forces you to collect bios for characters who don't even matter.
    • I believe the game is good for people who have never played the Henry games before, but it doesn't cater well to hardcore fans like myself.
    • I find it frustrating that collecting all character bios is required to 100% the game, even though most of the characters are irrelevant and don't contribute to the story.
    • I feel that the game's charm and personality were rooted in references to old video games and internet culture, which have been diminished due to the changes.
    • I think the focus on clicking on new heads during cutscenes detracts from paying attention to the story and enjoying the gameplay.
    • I feel that the game being sold on Steam for money has led to compromises that negatively impacted its original appeal.
    • I believe the game could have been more enjoyable if it retained its original references and charm, rather than making changes for copyright reasons.
    • I find it disappointing that the game's unique personality has been watered down, making it less appealing to long-time fans.
    • I think the game's requirement to collect bios for irrelevant characters is a poor design choice that disrupts the flow of the game.

Negative

It is a meme flash game made up of escape sequences that makes references to various popular IPs (games, movies, etc.). It consists of six chapters. The first five chapters can be played for free online. In the last chapter, you will create 16 different scenarios according to the choices made in the previous chapters. The gameplay is just clicking on choices presented on the screen. Most of them will result in a fail state in hilarious ways, and it makes fun of your selected choices. I liked the art style. It is 2D and colourful. Animation is done well. The game is very well complemented by its music and sound design. It gets loud at times, though. There are limited options in the main menu. The game stuttered on occasions while playing on full screen. They recommend playing it in the windowed mode (that was a bummer) to avoid crashes. The voice work is not that good. The story is there to serve its purpose. It is not entirely funny. More than half of the jokes fell flat. You will get various endings according to your choices. The paths of the sequences and checkpoints are represented in a map quite efficiently. So, one can play any chapter from any checkpoint to get various results of missed choices. There are achievements for clicking on all the characters that flash on the screen. Some of them only pop up for less than half a second. So, you must show reflexes and be ready to play the same sequences repeatedly. The chapters’ bios menu gives information about these characters. I didn’t like this mechanic. It shifted the focus from the main game to character hunting. It may take 3 to 4 hours to finish the game (if not going for optional achievements). But the asking price is too much, in my opinion (even at a 50% discount). If you feel nostalgic, you may grab it on sale. My verdict: 5/10

  • Sentiments

    • I liked the art style of the game, which is 2D and colorful, and the animation is done well.
    • The game is very well complemented by its music and sound design, though it gets loud at times.
    • The gameplay is simple, involving clicking on choices presented on the screen, but most choices result in hilarious fail states.
    • The voice work in the game is not that good, which detracts from the overall experience.
    • The story serves its purpose but is not entirely funny, with more than half of the jokes falling flat.
    • The game stuttered on occasions while playing in full screen, and it is recommended to play in windowed mode to avoid crashes, which was disappointing.
    • The mechanic of hunting for characters that flash on the screen for achievements shifted the focus away from the main game, which I didn’t like.
    • The game offers various endings based on choices, and the map efficiently represents paths and checkpoints, allowing replayability.
    • The asking price for the game is too high, even at a 50% discount, which makes it less appealing.
    • If you feel nostalgic, you may consider grabbing the game on sale, but it’s not worth the full price.

Negative

Thanks for the heads-up devs- But why is this game still unstable in fullscreen? Call me stubborn, but I don't think the game deserves a 98% rating if I can't play it on my big screen, with my small eyeballs. Harumph!

  • Sentiments

    • I appreciate the developers for providing a heads-up about the game's issues, which shows they are communicative and transparent.
    • I feel frustrated that the game is still unstable in fullscreen mode, which significantly impacts my ability to enjoy it.
    • I am stubborn in my opinion that the game does not deserve a 98% rating due to its technical issues, especially in fullscreen mode.
    • I am disappointed that I cannot play the game on my big screen, which is important for my gaming experience.
    • I find it inconvenient that the game does not cater to my needs, such as playing on a big screen with my small eyeballs.
    • I express my dissatisfaction with a playful 'Harumph!' to emphasize my frustration with the game's current state.

Negative

Maybe not my style of game but I found this game annoying and u'll finish to visit every map rly quickly so the only thing left to do is to 100% the game with all the ends and the quests/trophy. I saw the reviews and the trailer and it seemed nice but I finally just refunded it.

  • Sentiments

    • I found this game annoying, which made it difficult for me to enjoy the experience.
    • I felt that the maps were too small and could be explored very quickly, leaving little to do afterward.
    • The only thing left to do after exploring the maps was to complete 100% of the game, including all endings, quests, and trophies, which felt repetitive.
    • I initially thought the game seemed nice based on the reviews and trailer, but my actual experience did not match my expectations.
    • I ultimately decided to refund the game because it did not meet my expectations or suit my style.

Negative

not worth the 15$ lol, better to get it on sale and plus idk if its just me (i have a good computer BUT) for some reason the game crashes at random points, thats fine but im just confused on WHY but overall good and simple game. im just putting a NO because im getting sick of crashing every 30 mins

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the game is not worth the $15 price tag and would be better to purchase on sale.
    • I am confused and frustrated because the game crashes randomly, even though I have a good computer.
    • I find the game to be overall good and simple, despite the crashing issues.
    • I am getting sick of the game crashing every 30 minutes, which is why I am giving it a 'NO' recommendation.
