With an impressive AI Community Rating of 92.4%, this indie game follows Danya and his alien friend Juniper as they navigate space, repair their ship, and encounter the mysterious Brahve. Players praise the game’s stunning art, heartfelt story, and full English voice acting, but some note the story feels short, with pacing issues in the middle. Featuring 55K words, 25+ CGs, and 4 endings, The Symbiant offers 6+ hours of gameplay, though some players wish for more romantic moments and impactful choices. If you love emotional storytelling, space exploration, and LGBTQ+ representation, this game is a must-play.
Not super long. I cleared in 4 hours with all achievements but price point is fair. Loved the plot and characters way more than I expected. The lore was thought out more so than most visual novels that focus on uhhhh "adult situations." English voice acting was pretty professional for a smaller project and art was fantastic. Shout out to the artist, seriously top notch. I'm stoked to see what this team comes up with next.
I love it. I was waiting for half a year to finally play the full version. And today was my lucky day, I guess. And for all the people who have a problem with the nsfw version or can't download it on steam: Go on itchi.io -> search The symbiant (18+) and click on it -> scroll down the page -> click on adult patch for steam and download it -> go on steam again -> open the folder from the game -> open the folder 'game' -> put the adult patch in there And here you go! Have fun with your nsfw version!
I did NOT expect the *ahem* moments to to voiced as well. MY. LORD. Give me a moment to drool over what I have just witnessed. Amazing story. Lovely main characters. I will SO be looking forward to the release of the sequel. But before that happens, I have a question for the creators: So how the heck am I supposed to allow myself to go through any ending that isn't the happy ending? I refuse to allow these space cuties to suffer in any way. How dare you give that kind of option. ;-;
Never thought i'd be into tentacles but this game unlocked something in me. Jokes aside, wow, this game is awesome. I only reached one ending so far but I had to leave a review. The writing is one of the best I've encountered in bl games. Ost is really good, and I can find myself listening to the tracks even when i'm not playing. Danya's and Brahve's relationship feels natural and their banter is perfect. I fell in love with them in 6 hours and don't know what to do with myself now lol. Also the voice acting blew my mind. Super excited to play After Stories when it comes out!
Embark on a cosmic escapade with The Symbiant, a BL/Yaoi visual novel that rockets you into an interstellar adventure where love, secrets, and space collide in the most captivating ways!

Storyline
The Symbiant is an exciting BL/Yaoi visual novel that takes you on a space journey exploring romance. In the year 5066, follow Danya and Juniper aboard The Ameretat as their routine changes with the arrival of Brahve, a mysterious alien passenger, creating an unexpected connection between Danya and Brahve.
Gameplay
The game has an interesting story with 55,000 words. It has at least 6 hours of gameplay with over 25 beautiful CG's full English voiceovers. The best part of The Symbiant lies in its well-developed characters, especially Danya and Brahve. Their evolving relationship, mixed with Brahve's mysterious secrets, kept me engaged. Brahve's personal situation and Danya's role add depth to the story, creating emotional connections. The game has a small cast, allowing you to focus on the main characters' chemistry and dynamics. There is also an exciting DLC available, like the Cayama story branching from a beloved ending.
Graphics & Sound
The game has beautiful art, good music, and great voice-acting. It all comes together to make the experience enjoyable.
Final Verdict
The Symbiant is really impressive with awesome art, good music, and a story that kept me interested and wanting to play more. Its... fine? The actual story has zero stakes. They keep introducing things that make me go "Oh that's interesting, that must be the outside conflict" only for it to never be brought up again or immediately resolved. The art is beautiful and the voices are great. The VAs did a really solid job of sounding believable and charming. I wish their dialogue wasn't so stiff. They talk like they just walked out of therapy directly into a sex ed video. It's very strange. I can appreciate the focus on trying to portray the relationship as very healthy and open but they sound like they're actively being judged. Was the author paranoid about being called out? That's all I could think about when I heard them use technical terms for their relationship like they were discussing a mortgage. It's kind of a slideshow of random boring chitchat before the next sex scene, so I don't think it's worth the price. I have NO IDEA where they pulled "6 hours of gameplay" from because I finished it in 2 hours. It's not compelling enough to warrent a replay. I checked the different options in the dialogue trees and they're not impactful enough for me to spend another 2 hours on it. I want to see more from this studio but I hope they remember the 'novel' part of 'visual novel'.
well-drawn cgs and surprisingly decent dialogue. however, likely due to my growing insensitivity to nsfw scenes, the latter 2/3 of the story felt dull and strenuous. p.s. a warm reminder that the game's main character is not the hot blue alien but some phallic plant. if you are not a big fan of tentacles, some parts of the story could be huge turn-offs.
I was enjoying it until it became all about tentacle fetish stuff and forcing backwards woke mentalities (no kink shaming, no polyamory judging, ask pronouns shit) more than the actual couple in the game which was fairly early on. Really turned me off the game. That's not romantic at all. All I wanted was to watch two men fall in love with each other, fuck and appreciate each other, get off on each other. Why is that too much to ask? Why does all this creepy nonsense have to be involved? Why are people like this? Why can't I just enjoy a yaoi that is normal and respectful to what love and a respectful / loving relationship actually is? Not accepting shallow unfulfilling kinks and shit. Dayum. And I paid for this trash. Sad. I was really enjoying it at first, lovely art and all, but the direction it went it makes me feel disgusted with it to the point I cannot continue.
