The Wolf Among Us is a gripping action-adventure game from the creators of The Walking Dead, blending mature storytelling with immersive gameplay. Based on the Eisner Award-winning Fables comic series, you step into the shoes of Bigby Wolf, the Sheriff of Fabletown, as you unravel a brutal murder mystery. With a 91.45% AI Community Rating, players praise its engaging story, rich characters, and atmospheric visuals. However, some note that choices lack meaningful impact, and gameplay can feel shallow. Despite occasional technical glitches, the game’s dark, gritty tone and emotional depth make it a must-play for fans of narrative-driven adventures. Dive into a world where fairytales collide with reality, and every decision shapes your journey.
The big ((bad)) detective and wolf sheriff Bigby, in his life in Fabletown, where fairy tales and happy endings are more unusual and drastic than expected, tries to solve various incidents for the not so well-being of its citizens. In this journey he will find himself in a plot of intrigue that will bring risks to all the citizens of Fabletown. Based on the Fable comic book saga, The Wolf Among Us is a narrative story involving choices that can affect the characters' situations. Teltalle is known for involving this practicality of consequences in actions and yet many times you see that no matter how hard you try to make the right choices, the fate of certain characters keeps going in the same direction as it was programmed (technically choices are not so relevant after all...). With 5 episodes, it's a complementary and well-developed plot that will leave you shaking in your hands over whether you want ((or not)) the good outcome of those around you. Still, as said, certain results permeate into a single direction regardless of choices, making an elementary bubble without a metamorphosis to the outside.
Hands down the best telltale game and one of my favorite games of all time, I've never been tired of replaying this story since its release. great and interesting story with many plot twists, cool vibes and art style. Can't wait for the second season!!
For those accustomed to the Telltale way, the strength of the game rides on its story, and not only does it shine bright with The Wolf Among Us but I think it easily shines the brightest with it. Telltale’s best by far. On paper, this is the story of Fabletown’s Sheriff the Big Bad Wolf trying to atone for eating people's grandmothers, blowing down houses, and all the rest of his storied mayhem, but it is ultimately a tale of displaced people, second-class citizens whom other residents don't even acknowledge and just might happen to be Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and the Little Mermaid. It's a strong neo-noir that gets its hands dirty just as much from the grisly violence you're investigating as it does from the ugly first-world problems of its upper crust. It's the story of working poor vs a harried elite, filtered through the lens of long-forgotten legends and folklore. It’s unbelievably good storytelling, and sets itself as a prequel to the Fables comic book series. It's a triumph of tight plotting, wild imagination, and sure-handed direction. It's a game that never flinches in taking its story and its chain-smoking protagonist everywhere it can. All aboard the decade-long sequel express. Destination 2024. We’re nearly there people. Just a little bit longer to go.
A postmodern reimagining of classic fairy tales set against the backdrop of a noir-ish crime-ridden city in the 1960s. The story feels like a darker take on Alan Moore and Frank Miller’s comics. The scene-setting, music, and visual style—I loved it all. The only downside? Not enough gameplay. But the hero’s raw brutality and masculine presence, paired with the lonely jazz notes and the scent of cigarettes and whiskey, more than make up for the lack of action.
The Wolf Among Us is a stylish noir detective game from Telltale, where you play as Bigby Wolf, the Sheriff of Fabletown. Yes, the very same Big Bad Wolf who has traded in huffing and puffing to solve murders. I have to admit that at first, I was quite skeptical about this game, but before I knew it, I was completely under its spell. If you enjoy dark detective stories and fairy tale characters with an adult twist, this game is for you.
Pros:

Interesting source material and premise.
The way the story unfolds keeps you engaged.
Ending leaves room for interpretation.
Cons:

You’re given the illusion of choice; decisions don’t really matter that much.
Telltale laid off 90% of its staff in 2018 after a major restructuring.
The Wolf Among Us 2 will be an Epic Games Store exclusive.
The Wolf Among Us is not bad, assuming you enjoy this genre of interactive fiction, but the lack of meaningful choices as well as Telltale's actions make it difficult to recommend. If you're still interested, get it on sale. The lowest recorded sale price is $3.74 at 75% off. Game might be cool....Don't know because the timer was way to fast. The option to slow down or turn off the timer would seem a no brainer. And NO i can't be chuffed with pressing a pause button for EVERY choice.
It's been 3 months since I bought this game. I kept putting it on the last shelf to get through later, but I kept putting it off for so many months. One of the reasons is that I needed a little more time for this, which I often don't always manage to allocate on working days. Another thing is that this is a separate story from the developers of Telltale Games, which I don't understand at all... anything. A story in which I don't understand very well. In general, this shouldn't be the reason, because there is a similar story with another game from the developers - this is Batman - The Telltale Games. There I was able to immerse myself in the atmosphere of that game. But I had a hard time with this one. What do I think of this game? I probably won't recommend it. Because it was very difficult for me to immerse myself in this game to find out what is happening there. The atmosphere in it... unlike other games, except for The Walking Dead, is somewhat pixelated, and a little... oppressive, I guess. Well, at least that's my take on this game, and that's my opinion on the game. I'll say that I can't get enough into the story because I can't communicate freely in English, and the language that could help me with that... mostly Ukrainian, but Russian would work too. You can only try to evaluate this game in your own way, and say how you managed to pass this game, did you not stretch it for a long time.
Love Telltale and Telltale style games, this one starts with a lot of potential but (in my opinion) falls extremely flat at the end. If you like these choose your own adventure heavily story-based games, I recommend checking out The Walking Dead Game, Until Dawn, or Detroit Become Human. You can skip this one.
There are a huge heap of very positive reviews for this, so I just wanted to add a caution; while The Wolf Among Us is an interesting experience, there's not much to it, and it's borderline as to whether it should qualify as a game. *There is no skill involved, and not much to learn. *There are limited choices to make, most of which don't have any real consequences. *Much of your 'time played' will be spent watching cutscenes, and you can't skip or fast-forward them. While it was an interesting ~9 hours spent, I couldn't say it was *fun*. There's also not much replayability; now that I've finished, I don't imagine I'll ever play it again. As such, I can't really recommend this, given how many better games are out there for your time and money. Maybe a 6/10? A decent experience for the price, especially if you can get it on sale, but I'd keep your expectations low.
