AI Review

Titanfall® 2 is a thrilling first-person shooter that combines fast-paced action with a unique bond between Pilot and Titan. With an AI Community Rating of 88.58%, this game delivers an exhilarating single-player campaign and an intense multiplayer experience. The story follows a Militia rifleman and a veteran Titan as they navigate a mission filled with inventive twists and high-octane combat. Multiplayer fans will enjoy 6 new Titans, deadly Pilot abilities, and expanded customization options. While the community praises its fun gameplay, amazing graphics, and unique mechanics, some note the campaign is too short and lacks emotional depth. Difficulty balance and server issues are also mentioned, but the game remains a standout in the FPS genre. If you love action-packed shooters with a mix of mech combat and pilot agility, Titanfall® 2 is a must-play.

What the community wishes

Campaign too short
The solo campaign is way too short, taking less than 7 hours to complete. Adding more levels, even with basic gunfights, would greatly enhance the experience.
Indoor levels feel empty
Indoor levels lack detail and feel basic compared to the visually stunning outdoor environments. More intricate indoor designs would improve immersion.
Story lacks impact
While the story is enjoyable, it lacks depth and emotional impact. A more ambitious narrative and storytelling could elevate the campaign.
Difficulty balance issues
The game is too easy on foot, with health regenerating quickly. Mech combat is more challenging, but overall difficulty balancing could be improved.
EA app issues
The EA app causes problems, including background processes consuming RAM and game launch failures. A more reliable launcher is needed.
Multiplayer too hard for new players
The multiplayer community is dominated by experienced players, making it difficult for newcomers to learn and enjoy the game.
Hackers in multiplayer
Hackers are present in multiplayer, disrupting fair play. Better anti-cheat measures are required to maintain a healthy competitive environment.
Small player base
The player base is small, leading to longer matchmaking times. Efforts to revive the community or cross-platform play could help.
Toxic community
The community, especially on Reddit, is toxic. Moderation and community-building efforts could improve the overall player experience.
More mech combat needed
Players spend too much time outside their mechs. Increasing the frequency and duration of mech combat would enhance gameplay.
Difficulty auto-selection issue
The difficulty auto-selection during the tutorial doesn't match the actual game difficulty. A more accurate system is needed.
Lack of Titanfall 3
Players are disappointed by the lack of a third installment. Reviving the series with Titanfall 3 is highly requested.
Multiplayer learning curve steep
The multiplayer has a steep learning curve, which can be discouraging for new players. Better tutorials or matchmaking for beginners could help.
Game abandoned by devs
The game feels abandoned by developers, with no updates or support. Continued developer engagement is needed to keep the game alive.
Servers not populated
Multiplayer servers are not very populated, making it hard to find matches. Efforts to increase player count or cross-platform play are needed.
More gunfights needed
The campaign lacks enough gunfights, leaving players wanting more. Adding more combat scenarios would improve the pacing.
Better story-telling
The story-telling could be more ambitious, with deeper world-building and character development to make the narrative more engaging.
More mech variety
Some mechs are better than others, leading to imbalance. More balanced and varied mech options would improve multiplayer fairness.
More PvE content
While PvE (Frontier Defence) is still active, more PvE content or modes would cater to players who prefer cooperative gameplay.
Better optimization for modern systems
The game struggles with modern systems, especially with the EA app. Better optimization and compatibility updates are needed.

In-depth analysis of most impactful community reviews

Positive

Pros: It's September 2024 and matchmaking takes 2-40 seconds. People still play the PvE (Frontier Defence). Graphics still look good. PvP difficulty is ok, there are some veterans who are impossible to kill, but there are also what looks like relatively new players too. Cons: But it also requires the garbage EA app to be installed on your PC, and even after you quit the game and the EA launcher, it will leave a "EA Background Service" in your processes, taking up a bit of your ram and doing god knows what. Edit: Lol, a day after writing this review the game stopped working for me. It just doesn't launch. Tried clean reinstall - no luck. What a disappointment. Edit 2: After 3+ hours of trying different fixes, here's what worked for me: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1237970/discussions/0/4843148117774494267/?tscn=1727416796#c4840896594187375355

  • Sentiments

    • I am impressed that the matchmaking is still fast in September 2024, taking only 2-40 seconds to find a game.
    • I appreciate that the PvE mode, Frontier Defence, still has an active player base, which adds to the game's longevity.
    • I find the graphics of the game to still hold up well, which enhances the overall experience.
    • I think the PvP difficulty is balanced, with a mix of veteran players who are challenging and newer players who make the game accessible.
    • I am frustrated that the game requires the EA app to be installed, which feels unnecessary and intrusive.
    • I am annoyed that the EA Background Service continues to run in the background even after quitting the game, consuming system resources without clear purpose.
    • I am extremely disappointed that the game stopped working for me a day after writing the review, despite trying a clean reinstall.
    • I spent over 3 hours trying various fixes to get the game to work again, which was a frustrating and time-consuming experience.
    • I eventually found a solution by following a community guide, which restored functionality but left me with mixed feelings about the game's reliability.

Got a cat here. Friends passing by can touch her and click Like to pet her once. Award for good luck, Take My Points for infinite pets :) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ __ /> フ | _ _ l /` ミ_xノ / | / ヽ ノ │ | | | / ̄| | | | | ( ̄ヽ__ヽ_)__) \二つ

  • Sentiments

    • I feel a sense of joy and warmth from the inclusion of a cat in the game, as it adds a charming and interactive element that players can enjoy.
    • I appreciate the social aspect where friends passing by can interact with the cat, fostering a sense of community and shared enjoyment.
    • I find the 'Like to pet her once' feature delightful, as it encourages engagement and rewards players with a simple yet satisfying interaction.
    • I am intrigued by the 'Award for good luck' mechanic, as it adds a layer of mystery and potential reward, enhancing the gameplay experience.
    • I am excited about the 'Take My Points for infinite pets' option, as it offers a fun and potentially endless way to interact with the cat, adding replay value.
    • I feel neutral about the ASCII art of the cat, as it is a creative touch but does not significantly impact the overall sentiment of the review.
    • I find the overall tone of the review to be lighthearted and playful, which contributes to a positive and enjoyable reading experience.

Positive

This game perfects the Call of Duty formula. No other multiplayer game makes you feel as cool when you're performing well. Its movement options, gadgets, and pilot to titan combat make it a real joy to play. It's a real shame this game never saw the light of day and we never got a third installment. However, I feel optimistic that someone, someday, will revive this formula. It probably won't be Respawn, as they wouldn't want a competitor to Apex Legends, but someone surely will, as it's too good an idea to let it rot. There are already developers creating Titanfall in VR (the game is called Wavefront, if you're interested). And also there are Diesel Knights - another promising successor. Anyway, play this gem now - there's still an active and big community playing. Don't let this masterpiece pass you by.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that this game perfects the Call of Duty formula, making it stand out as a unique and exceptional experience.
    • I find the multiplayer gameplay incredibly satisfying, as it makes me feel cool and accomplished when performing well.
    • I enjoy the movement options, gadgets, and the dynamic pilot-to-titan combat, which make the game a real joy to play.
    • I feel disappointed that this game never saw the light of day and that a third installment was never released.
    • I remain optimistic that someone will revive this formula in the future, as it is too good an idea to let it fade away.
    • I doubt that Respawn will revive it, as they likely wouldn’t want a competitor to Apex Legends, but I believe another developer will.
    • I am excited about developers creating successors like Wavefront (Titanfall in VR) and Diesel Knights, which show promise.
    • I strongly recommend playing this game now, as it still has an active and large community, making it worth experiencing.
    • I consider this game a masterpiece and urge others not to let it pass them by, as it is a gem worth playing.
Game #54 of My Backlog Clearing Journey
Status: Completed This is one of the most underrated single-player first-person shooters out there. It combines fascinating story elements and clever map design with the smoothest movement mechanics I’ve ever experienced in a shooter. While I personally feel the first game had better balance in its multiplayer maps and gameplay, the single-player campaign in this one was an incredibly pleasant surprise—especially since I originally bought it just for the multiplayer. It’s a shame the series has been all but abandoned.

    • I think it’s a shame that the series has been all but abandoned, which reflects a negative sentiment about the lack of continuation or support for the series.

I love this game, and I used to play it on console all the time, but because of the current state of the game, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. To really play online you are basically required to download an outside client, and this game has been completely abandoned by the devs.

  • Sentiments

    • I love this game and used to play it on console all the time, which shows a strong positive attachment and enjoyment of the game in the past.
    • Because of the current state of the game, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, indicating a strong negative sentiment about its current condition.
    • To really play online, you are basically required to download an outside client, which feels inconvenient and frustrating.
    • The game has been completely abandoned by the devs, which conveys disappointment and frustration with the lack of support or updates.

Negative

Great game, great movement and fun, but at this moment cannot recommend the game because it requires the EA app to play, and the EA app just gets stuck on trying to launch the game, rendering it unplayable. It worked when it was played through EA's Origin app, but the new EA app just doesn't wanna go for me, and I'm not gonna take the time to reinstall everything at just a chance of fixing it (probably not, since it failed right out of the gate when I installed the EA app). First time I've lost the ability to play a game I've paid for because of a (really terrible) company mishandling things. I would recommend this game if the above issue wasn't a thing, doubly so if it didn't require the ever-terrible EA third party apps.

  • Sentiments

    • I would recommend the game if the issue with the EA app was resolved.
    • I find the EA third-party apps to be terrible and a hindrance to enjoying the game.
    • I think the game is great, with great movement and fun gameplay.
    • I cannot recommend the game at this moment because it requires the EA app to play, which gets stuck and renders the game unplayable.
    • The game worked fine when played through EA's Origin app, but the new EA app fails to launch the game.
    • I am frustrated that I have lost the ability to play a game I paid for due to EA's mishandling of their app.
    • I am unwilling to reinstall everything just for a chance to fix the issue, as it failed immediately after installing the EA app.
    • I believe the game has potential and would be enjoyable if not for the technical issues caused by EA's app.

Negative

Good game, only leave negative review cause I can't play multiplayer since my intel CPU is not supported, anything newer than a 10th gen won't let you play it and you will need to create sketchy environment variables in your pc in order for it to work. Hope it gets fixed

  • Sentiments

    • I think the game is good overall, as I enjoyed it despite some issues.
    • I am frustrated because I cannot play multiplayer due to my Intel CPU not being supported.
    • I find it disappointing that newer CPUs, specifically anything newer than a 10th gen, are not supported.
    • I am unhappy that I need to create sketchy environment variables on my PC to make the game work.
    • I hope the issue with CPU compatibility gets fixed in the future.

Negative

campaign is fine, dont bother with multiplayer unless youve played it before. Servers are not very populated and those that are still playing the multiplayer are die hard fans who have mastered the game and will stomp you without having enough breathing room to learn to play

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the campaign is fine, but it doesn't stand out as exceptional or particularly memorable.
    • I would not recommend the multiplayer to new players, as the servers are not very populated.
    • I think the remaining multiplayer players are die-hard fans who are extremely skilled, making it difficult for newcomers to learn.
    • I believe the multiplayer environment is unwelcoming for beginners, as experienced players dominate and leave no room for learning.
    • I feel that the multiplayer experience is unbalanced, with experienced players easily overpowering newcomers.
    • I think the campaign is acceptable, but it doesn't seem to be the main focus of the review.
    • I feel that the multiplayer servers being underpopulated detracts from the overall experience.
    • I believe the multiplayer is only worth playing if you have prior experience with it.
    • I think the multiplayer community is small and dominated by highly skilled players, which can be discouraging.
    • I feel that the multiplayer lacks a welcoming environment for new or casual players.

Negative

I'm sure this game is great. The only problem is that the game will not open at all, and I don't know why. I made and EA account for this game, and yet it doesn't work. Seems good if you can access it though.

  • Sentiments

    • I am sure this game is great, which indicates a positive sentiment about the game's potential quality.
    • The game will not open at all, which is a significant issue and causes frustration.
    • I don't know why the game won't open, which adds to the confusion and dissatisfaction.
    • I made an EA account specifically for this game, but it still doesn't work, which is disappointing and frustrating.
    • The game seems good if you can access it, which suggests a positive sentiment about the game's potential when functional.
