AI Review

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (TABS) is a hilariously chaotic indie strategy game where you lead wobblers—goofy, physics-driven units—into absurd battles across ancient lands, spooky realms, and fantasy worlds. With over 100 units at your disposal, you can create custom armies, design unique battles, and even challenge friends in online multiplayer. The game’s wobbly physics system ensures every fight is unpredictable and laugh-out-loud fun. Boasting an impressive AI Community Rating of 90.23%, players praise TABS for its creativity, humor, and replayability. Fans love the sandbox mode, unit creator, and the ability to share custom content via the Steam Workshop. However, some note that the campaign content feels limited, and the difficulty balance can be frustrating at times. If you enjoy quirky, physics-based strategy games with endless customization options, TABS is a must-try. Dive into the chaos and see why it’s a fan favorite!

made a superhuman so fast that in slow motion I could only capture a FRACTION of his speed. Unfortunately he was so fast that he killed himself instantly by going out of the map. 100/10 would make again

  • Sentiments

    • I felt amazed and impressed by the superhuman speed I created, which was so fast that it could only be captured in slow motion as a fraction of its actual speed.
    • I experienced a sense of humor and amusement when the superhuman character killed itself instantly by going out of the map due to its extreme speed.
    • I found the experience highly entertaining and enjoyable, as evidenced by my enthusiastic rating of 100/10 and my willingness to recreate the scenario.

Positive

TABS is a very good game in my opinion. It has an immense variety of units you may send to battle, and yet, you can pick your favorite one and control it in the middle of the action. Graphics are not great but I think they suit the style of the game. There are few strategy games in which, when you zoom in on a particular unit in the thick of a chaotic battle, each individual action is as well-crafted. When you control one of two combatants, you may even practice parry and various moves against an AI-controlled opponent. Secret units are an amazing idea! I also love that PvP can be played both online and offline. I wish you a lot of fun playing TABS!

  • Sentiments

    • I think TABS is a very good game because it offers an immense variety of units to send into battle, which adds depth and replayability.
    • I appreciate that I can pick my favorite unit and control it directly during the battle, which adds a personal and immersive touch to the gameplay.
    • I feel the graphics are not great, but I believe they suit the style of the game well, contributing to its unique charm.
    • I am impressed by how well-crafted each individual action is when zooming in on a unit during chaotic battles, which enhances the overall experience.
    • I enjoy the ability to control one of two combatants and practice parry and various moves against an AI-controlled opponent, adding a layer of skill development.
    • I find the idea of secret units to be amazing, as it adds an element of surprise and discovery to the game.
    • I love that PvP can be played both online and offline, offering flexibility in how I choose to engage with other players.

Positive

I have wanted this game since I played the Open Alpha, and it feels like so long ago now. But I have to say, this is probably one of the greatest games on Steam. Certainly the best battle simulator in my opinion, and I would recommend this to anyone without a moments hesitation.

  • Sentiments

    • I have wanted this game since I played the Open Alpha, which shows my long-term excitement and anticipation for the game.
    • It feels like so long ago now, indicating a sense of nostalgia and eagerness for the game's release.
    • This is probably one of the greatest games on Steam, expressing a strong positive opinion about the game's quality.
    • Certainly the best battle simulator in my opinion, highlighting a very high level of satisfaction with the game's mechanics.
    • I would recommend this to anyone without a moment's hesitation, showing complete confidence in the game's appeal and quality.

Negative

I want to just get a very important warning out that ONLY campaign progress is saved via steam cloud. custom units, custom maps are NOT tied to the steam cloud so if you uninstall or transfer the game from one drive to another you WILL lose ALL content you have not uploaded to the workshop or have not backed up. so, in my case I probably lost around 100 custom units, about 20ish maps and just a lot of memories. would love to upvote cause there is so many good things about tabs but the game's lack of coverage with the steam cloud is just a gaping hole for me in how I view the game. (as a note my reliance on the steam cloud is kind of a bias but it's been a super long time since I worried about uninstalling any game and thinking about a lot of lost progress, take this as you will)

  • Sentiments

    • I feel frustrated and disappointed that only campaign progress is saved via Steam Cloud, while custom units and maps are not, leading to significant loss of content if not backed up.
    • I am upset about losing around 100 custom units and 20ish maps due to the lack of Steam Cloud support for these features.
    • I feel a sense of loss over the memories associated with the custom content I created, which is now gone because it wasn't backed up.
    • I acknowledge that there are many good aspects of the game, which makes me want to upvote it despite my frustrations.
    • I view the lack of Steam Cloud coverage for custom content as a major flaw in the game, which significantly impacts my overall opinion of it.
    • I recognize that my reliance on Steam Cloud might be a bias, but it has been a long time since I worried about losing progress in a game.
    • I feel a sense of inconvenience and regret for not being more cautious about backing up my custom content, given the lack of Steam Cloud support.
    • I appreciate the game's campaign progress being saved via Steam Cloud, which is a positive feature, but it doesn't outweigh the negatives for me.
    • I feel conflicted because I enjoy the game but am deeply disappointed by the lack of comprehensive Steam Cloud support.
    • I want to warn others about the potential loss of custom content if they rely solely on Steam Cloud, as it has caused me significant frustration.

Negative

Goofy physics and chaotic battles. However, after a few hours, the novelty wears off, and it can feel a bit repetitive without new updates or content. If you wanna buy, buy when it's like -80% or less. You'll get around 20ish hours in. "Modding" community in terms of making new characters died out quite quickly. The sight of a derpy mammoth face-planting into a line of wobbling warriors, kinda cool and then next game you'll can/will die out of boredom.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the goofy physics and chaotic battles to be quite entertaining and fun initially.
    • I feel that the novelty of the game wears off after a few hours, making it feel repetitive.
    • I believe the game lacks new updates or content, which contributes to its repetitive nature.
    • I recommend buying the game only when it is heavily discounted, like -80% or less.
    • I estimate that the game provides around 20 hours of gameplay, which is decent for its price when discounted.
    • I notice that the modding community, especially for creating new characters, died out quickly, which is disappointing.
    • I find the sight of a derpy mammoth face-planting into a line of wobbling warriors to be amusing and cool.
    • I feel that the game can become boring quickly, leading to a loss of interest after a few sessions.

Negative

I have seen this game and it looked fun, but when I launched the game, it started to load and then just stayed on a black screen. I waited for over 10 minutes on the black screen and nothing showed up or loaded. I tried restarting Steam and my computer and that didn't work. I wish I could play this game but somethings just aren't meant to be :(

  • Sentiments

    • I was initially excited about the game because it looked fun and had potential.
    • I felt disappointed when the game failed to load properly and only showed a black screen.
    • I waited patiently for over 10 minutes, hoping the game would load, but nothing happened.
    • I tried troubleshooting by restarting Steam and my computer, but it didn’t resolve the issue.
    • I felt frustrated because I couldn’t play the game despite my efforts to fix the problem.
    • I expressed a sense of resignation, feeling that some things just aren’t meant to be.

Negative

Lies, it's not very accurate coz mammoths are all ded now. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, more like Totally Accurate Balls Simulator. Anyway, this game is great, stop looking at bad reviews and enjoy the insanity.

  • Sentiments

    • I find the game's title misleading because it claims to be 'Totally Accurate' but includes extinct creatures like mammoths, which feels inaccurate to me.
    • I think the game is great and enjoy the chaotic and insane gameplay it offers.
    • I believe people should ignore bad reviews and focus on enjoying the game for what it is.

Negative

Can't install anything from the workshop. Noticed many others complaining about the same issue, but instead of fixing the game the developers tell them to use WINRAR and directly download from the website. Wtf is the point of a workshop/mod section if you are just gonna force more than 20% of your base to download that shit from a website? Edit: (They finally patched the issue, and I tip my hat off to them for caring about this even though 8 years have passed since release but they somehow managed to f*ck up and delete all of my custom maps, units, battles, and campaigns ;P )

  • Sentiments

    • I am extremely frustrated that I cannot install anything from the workshop, which is a core feature I expected to work.
    • I noticed that many others are complaining about the same issue, which makes me feel like the problem is widespread and not being addressed.
    • I am disappointed that the developers are not fixing the game and instead are suggesting workarounds like using WINRAR.
    • I find it absurd that the developers are telling users to download mods directly from a website instead of fixing the workshop functionality.
    • I am confused about the purpose of having a workshop/mod section if a significant portion of the player base is forced to use external methods to download mods.
    • I feel that more than 20% of the player base being affected by this issue is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the developers.
