In-depth analysis of most impactful community reviews

Positive

So after playing townscaper for about 15mins I like it. My only complaint is that I wish they had little people walking around. IMO that would give this game immaculate vibes. The art style is great and I like the cozy feeling, but its just missing that 'thing.' it needs some type of simulation to take up that empty space feeling, and little townspeople walking around would give it that.

Definitely recommend for a few hours of relaxed plop-plopping the town of dream But it lacks streetlights, like they would've been a gamechanger, with adding a bit of a dynamic and/or regular lightning works. Also, a little coloring tool would be good, to use on the already existing structures.

Amazing. Soothing and a cure for anxiety. Only suggestion is adding LIFE to the towns! Have people populate the areas! show them moving around, going places, pause, and chat, then move along, etc. let there be PEOPLE!

Positive

I love games that aren't games. I love the satisfying little noises. I love that if you enclose an area with houses it becomes a garden. I love the birds that fly about and get spooked if you change something close to them. I love that if there are towers close enough to each other, ropes with laundry or flags connect them. I love the colours, I love that the map isn't a perfect grid. I love zooming the camera to street level and imagining what it would be like to walk around. I think I would add a boat "brush" that you can place little randomised ships about. :) Nice game! Very fun very sweet. The world would be better with more games like this.

Positive

Calling it a 'game' might be a stretch, but it is literally what it says on the tin: "Instant town building toy", with no further depth beyond that. Well-executed and meditative building sandbox, if one tiny in scale. Pretty much the equivalent of just going through a box of random Lego pieces and bumbling your way into making *something*.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that calling it a 'game' might be a stretch, as it lacks depth and complexity, which gives a somewhat negative impression of its gameplay.

Negative

The concept of this game is great but until now the game is abandoned, nothing new and what you do i adding new blocks to make new small houses and that's it! Things must be added to this game: - A workshop - New type of buildings🏗️🏫 - small boats and ships sailing around⛵🚤🚣🏻 - Kite and planes flying above the buildings 🪁🛩 - Weather changing, - Ability to make a beach 🏖️ - People animation like: going up to the top of building or watching the sea - Add a lighthouse🗼 - Season changing, Like the sea freezing due to winter. Things makes the game more lively instead of just adding a building! For now I will not recommend the game until the developers add new changes otherwise, players will waste their money

  • Sentiments

    • I think the concept of the game is great, which shows potential and creativity in its design.
    • I feel the game is abandoned, with no new updates or content being added, which is disappointing.
    • I find the gameplay repetitive, as it only involves adding new blocks to make small houses, which lacks depth.
    • I believe the game needs a workshop to enhance creativity and provide more tools for players.
    • I think adding new types of buildings would make the game more engaging and diverse.
    • I feel the inclusion of small boats, ships, kites, and planes would make the game world feel more lively and dynamic.
    • I believe weather and season changes, like freezing seas in winter, would add realism and variety to the game.
    • I think adding animations for people, like climbing buildings or watching the sea, would make the game feel more alive.
    • I feel the game currently lacks liveliness and fails to justify its cost, making it a poor investment for players.
    • I will not recommend the game until the developers add significant changes to improve the experience.

Negative

Hate to leave a negative review, but this game is lacking content. Sure, it was fun first but got boring pretty fast. Developer hasn't really added any new content either so you really get what is on the introduction video. Aesthetically pretty nice with cute pop up sounds and so on, but considering how many other similar sandbox building games there are, it pales in comparison. Honestly, some music or even extra props on the background would make the game more lively and engaging. Thumbs up for wide language support though.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the game is lacking content, which makes it less enjoyable over time.
    • I initially found the game fun, but it quickly became boring.
    • I appreciate the aesthetic elements, such as the cute pop-up sounds.
    • I am disappointed that the developer hasn’t added any new content since the game’s release.
    • I think the game pales in comparison to other similar sandbox building games.
    • I believe adding music or extra background props would make the game more lively and engaging.
    • I give a thumbs up for the game’s wide language support.

Negative

Fun for like a hour. I would of refunded it if I didn't somehow leave it running overnight. There is so much potential, but there is very little content in the actual game, and considering the Developer hasn't said much about the game I doubt there will be anything new anytime soon

  • Sentiments

    • I found the game fun for a short period, but it quickly lost its appeal after about an hour of playtime.
    • I considered refunding the game because I felt it did not meet my expectations or provide enough value.
    • I accidentally left the game running overnight, which prevented me from refunding it, and this was frustrating.
    • I believe the game has a lot of potential, but it currently lacks sufficient content to fully realize that potential.
    • I am disappointed by the lack of content in the game, as it feels incomplete or underdeveloped.
    • I doubt there will be any new content or updates soon, as the developer has not communicated much about the game's future.

Negative

there's just not much to do, and not much you can control. you can't control where the doors are, so you just have doors and mailboxes by a ladder into the ocean. you can't build proper bridges. you can't add greenery. it's just a bit boring.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that there is not much to do in the game, which makes it feel lacking in content and engagement.
    • I am frustrated that I cannot control where the doors are placed, leading to illogical placements like doors and mailboxes by a ladder into the ocean.
    • I find it disappointing that I cannot build proper bridges, which limits my ability to customize and improve the game environment.
    • I feel restricted because I cannot add greenery, which makes the game world feel barren and uninteresting.
    • I find the game to be a bit boring overall, as it lacks engaging activities and customization options.

Negative

I wouldn't recommend this game to people like me. I can get lost in sandbox games and city builders, so technically it would be my kind of game and I enjoyed the creative outlet. At first it was relaxing, but my perfectionism and big ideas made me get stuck on a city for around 4h. Due to limitations and missing quality of life features it became tedious real fast. So I would say, expect this game to be relaxing for as long as you try not to actually work on any big projects.

  • Sentiments

    • I enjoyed the creative outlet the game provided, as it aligns with my interest in sandbox games and city builders.
    • At first, I found the game relaxing, which was a positive experience for me.
    • My perfectionism and big ideas led me to spend around 4 hours on a single city, which initially felt engaging.
    • The game became tedious very quickly due to its limitations and lack of quality-of-life features.
    • I wouldn't recommend this game to people like me, as it doesn't fully meet my expectations or preferences.
    • The game is relaxing only if you avoid working on big projects, which limits its appeal for me.
