AI Review

Helltaker is a unique indie adventure game where you navigate hell to build a harem of sharply dressed demon girls. With its charming cutesy art style, engaging Sokoban-style puzzles, and a killer soundtrack, this free-to-play game offers a short but memorable experience. The AI Community Rating of 89.08% reflects its widespread appeal, with players praising its fun gameplay, immersive story, and sweet humor. However, some find the puzzles repetitive or the final boss fight overly frustrating. Despite its brevity (1-2 hours), Helltaker’s quirky charm and lovable characters make it a must-try for fans of indie games and demon girl enthusiasts alike.

this guy literally took his kink and made a game out of it to attract both artists and players so that more rule34 content could be made of his kink, which is simultaneously the dumbest and most megabrain thing i've ever seen. oh yeah game is cool

  • Sentiments

    • I find it amusing and clever that the developer turned their personal interest into a game to attract both artists and players, which I think is a unique and creative approach.
    • I think the idea of creating a game to generate more rule34 content is simultaneously ridiculous and genius, which makes it stand out in a bizarre way.
    • I believe the game itself is cool and enjoyable, which adds to its appeal despite the unusual motivation behind its creation.

Helltaker Chocolate Pancakes: 1 1/3 cups (185g) all-purpose flour 1/4 cup (25g) cocoa powder (I use Dutch-processed) 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 eggs 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk 3 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil (or 45g melted butter) 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1/2 cup (85g) chocolate chips or chunks Butter or oil , for cooking Chocolate Ganache Sauce 140 g (5 oz.) bittersweet or semisweet chocolate 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream Chocolate Pancakes Recipe / Instructions: In a huge bowl, sift collectively flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt (or whisk nicely with a whisk). Set apart. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together egg and sugar until properly combined. Add milk, oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract. Pour the moist ingredients into the dry components and stir just until mixed and moistened. Do not over mix. Mix in chocolate chips or chunks. Set batter aside and make the chocolate sauce. Chocolate Sauce: In a medium heatproof bowl, combine chocolate and heavy cream. Microwave in 20 to 30 second increments, mixing in between, till chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Set aside whilst making the pancakes. I like to pour it over the pancakes while it’s warm. Cook the Pancakes: Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat. Coat with butter or oil. For each pancake, drop 1/4 cup of batter onto skillet. Cook 1-2 minutes, until floor of pancakes have some bubbles and the bottom appears to be done. Flip carefully and cook some other 1-2 minutes. Transfer to a plate and if you need you can cowl the plate loosely with aluminium foil to preserve warm. Coat the skillet with butter or oil before every pancake or batch of pancakes to save you sticking. Serve straight away with chocolate sauce (rewarm sauce in the microwave for a few seconds if needed).

  • Sentiments

    • I appreciate the detailed and clear instructions provided for making the chocolate pancakes, which makes the recipe easy to follow.
    • I find the use of Dutch-processed cocoa powder and bittersweet chocolate to be a great choice, as it enhances the richness of the flavor.
    • I like the flexibility in the recipe, such as the option to use either oil or melted butter, which allows for personal preference.
    • I enjoy the addition of chocolate chips or chunks in the batter, as it adds a delightful texture and extra chocolatey goodness.
    • I appreciate the step-by-step guidance on making the chocolate ganache sauce, which complements the pancakes perfectly.
    • I find the tip to cover the pancakes with aluminum foil to keep them warm while cooking the rest to be very practical and helpful.
    • I like the suggestion to reheat the chocolate sauce in the microwave if needed, ensuring it stays warm and pourable for serving.
    • I feel neutral about the use of a microwave for melting the chocolate, as it is a common method but not everyone may prefer it.
    • I find the recipe to be straightforward and well-organized, making it accessible even for those who are not experienced in baking.
    • I appreciate the reminder to coat the skillet with butter or oil before each pancake, as it prevents sticking and ensures even cooking.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel a sense of humor and lightheartedness in the review, as the user is joking about needing points to buy 'slut avatars and backgrounds'.
    • I notice a playful tone in the request for rewards, with promises of exaggerated benefits like growing 3cm or 30cm if the comment is rewarded.
    • I observe a neutral sentiment in the use of ASCII art, which seems to be included for aesthetic or humorous purposes rather than conveying a strong opinion.
    • I detect a lack of serious critique or feedback about the game itself, as the review focuses more on humor and personal goals within the game.
    • I sense a light-hearted and non-critical approach, as the review does not express any dissatisfaction or frustration with the game.

  • Sentiments

    • I found the art style of the game to be visually appealing and cool.
    • The puzzles in the game were challenging but ultimately manageable and doable.
    • Overall, I felt the game was good and well-made, with no major complaints until the final boss.
    • I am extremely frustrated with the final boss's final phase, which I found to be overly spammy and unfair.
    • The final boss's mechanics felt like bullshit, leading me to leave a negative review.

Helltaker feels like a missed opportunity. While the puzzle mechanics are interesting at first, the repetitive gameplay quickly becomes a chore. The difficulty spikes are jarring, making the experience feel frustrating rather than challenging. The humor is hit or miss, and while the art style is charming, it doesn’t make up for the lack of depth. The game’s short length leaves little room for meaningful progression or story development, making it hard to feel invested. Overall, it’s a simple, gimmicky game that wears thin far too quickly. Not worth the time.

  • Sentiments

    • I feel that the puzzle mechanics in Helltaker are interesting at first, but they quickly become repetitive and tedious.
    • I find the difficulty spikes in the game to be jarring and frustrating, rather than providing a satisfying challenge.
    • I think the humor in the game is inconsistent, with some moments landing well and others falling flat.
    • I appreciate the charming art style of the game, but I feel it doesn’t compensate for the lack of depth in other areas.
    • I believe the game’s short length leaves little room for meaningful progression or story development, making it hard to feel invested.
    • I feel that Helltaker is a simple, gimmicky game that loses its appeal far too quickly.
    • I think the game is not worth the time due to its repetitive gameplay and lack of depth.

Negative

One of the best free games ever made, marred by one of the worst boss battles/achievements ever designed. It also makes no sense to create a puzzle game that suddenly becomes a razor's edge precision bullet-hell out of the blue. Also the puzzles are ridiculously easy, but that in and of itself is not a big deal. I beat the boss in around 30 minutes, but it ruined the entire experience. Few reasons why: the game has input lag, and on top of that the character's movements have a noticeable delay after input. There is no diagonal movement, and the game seemingly cannot register multiple inputs quickly, or any input quickly at all. If you're going to design something that requires millisecond precision, then you MUST also build a game responsive enough to facilitate said design. Really disappointing way to end an otherwise stellar experience. A real shame.

  • Sentiments

    • I believe this is one of the best free games ever made, which is a strong positive sentiment about the overall quality and value of the game.
    • I feel the boss battle and achievement design is one of the worst ever, which significantly detracts from the experience.
    • I find it nonsensical that a puzzle game suddenly shifts into a precision-based bullet-hell mechanic, which feels out of place and frustrating.
    • I think the puzzles are ridiculously easy, but this alone is not a major issue for me.
    • I beat the boss in around 30 minutes, but it completely ruined the entire experience for me.
    • I noticed significant input lag in the game, which makes precise movements difficult and frustrating.
    • I observed a noticeable delay in the character's movements after input, which further adds to the frustration.
    • I dislike the lack of diagonal movement, which limits control options and feels restrictive.
    • I found the game unable to register multiple inputs quickly, which is a major flaw for a precision-based design.
    • I feel the game's ending was a disappointing way to conclude an otherwise stellar experience, which is a real shame.

    • I feel a mix of sadness and resignation towards my lover, who is a drinker and finds solace in Neu-Berlin, mirroring my own struggles.
    • I feel compelled to return to Neu-Berlin, driven by my desperation and the inevitability of my fate tied to Haus Abendrot.
    • I feel a sense of inevitability and acceptance as I resign myself to spending the rest of my days in Haus Abendrot.
    • I feel a deep sense of loss and tragedy, as I reflect on the ruin of many good young men, including myself, in Haus Abendrot.
    • I feel a sense of melancholy and reflection as I recount my story, acknowledging the mistakes and consequences of my actions.

Negative

original game like a 6/10, good art, eh story, boring puzzles, shit bossfight but passable. finally got around to playing the update, actually solid and engaging puzzles with a few exceptions (phase 2 is not a puzzle its just go fast, shit design) and the final boss is stupidly difficult (already beat it don't say skill issue). brings this down to like a 4/10 game, truly not worth your time. just go to the character's r34 pages and then play touhou if you want the "helltaker" experience

  • Sentiments

    • I think the original game is mediocre, rating it a 6/10, with good art but an unimpressive story and boring puzzles.
    • I found the bossfight in the original game to be poorly designed, describing it as 'shit bossfight but passable.'
    • I appreciate the update for introducing solid and engaging puzzles, which improved the gameplay experience.
    • I criticize Phase 2 of the update, stating it is not a puzzle but rather a poorly designed 'go fast' mechanic.
    • I express frustration with the final boss in the update, calling it 'stupidly difficult' and dismissing any 'skill issue' comments.
    • I rate the updated game a 4/10, concluding that it is not worth the player's time.
    • I suggest skipping the game entirely and instead visiting the character's R34 pages for a better experience.
    • I recommend playing Touhou for a similar but better 'Helltaker' experience.
